‘Udaipur Tales’ poised to make Rajasthan a storytelling destination
The event will bring together a mix of authors and narrators from India and abroad
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduIn a move set to bring Rajasthan on the global cultural map, an annual “Udaipur Tales” international storytelling festival will promote oral narratives during the present digital age in the City of Lakes. The festival will be organised in Udaipur from January 10 to 12, 2025.
Festival’s co-founder Sushmita Singha said here on Wednesday that it would focus on the art of oral storytelling and bring together a mix of authors and narrators from India and abroad. The participants will include international storytellers from South Africa, Russia, Spain, Sri Lanka and Singapore.
With its diverse line-up of sessions, “Udaipur Tales” will cater to the audiences of all generations and its stories will range from ancient epics and historical narratives to deeply personal accounts of resilience and triumph.
The celebrated Indian storytellers will include Devdutt Patnaik, Fouzia Dastango, Ajay Kumar, Ahmad Faraz, Debjani Bhaduri, Shweta Nadkarni, Shilpa Mehta, Shona Malhotra and Adithya Kothakota. Ms. Singha said the 2025 festival would introduce a unique theme of “stories of food”, which would reflect the culinary culture and heritage of different regions.
