Appeal for commemorative stamp honouring freedom fighter Pandiyapathy
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduInternational Fishermen Development Trust (INFIDET) founder Justin Antony and members met Governor R.N. Ravi on Friday and submitted a petition seeking the release of a commemorative postage stamp on freedom fighter Pandiyapathy and include his contribution to the freedom struggle in school curriculum across India.
The Trust members expressed their gratitude to the Union government for declaring Don Gabriel De Cruz Vaz Gomez Parathavarma Pandian, also known as Pandiyapathy, the then ruler of the pearl fishery coast in south India, as a freedom fighter, according to a press release.
