‘Run for Kannada’ draws large enthusiasts; Mandya all set to host Sahitya Sammelana from Dec 20: Minister
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduMinister-in-charge N Cheluvarayaswamy on Tuesday said Mandya is all set to host the 87th Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, a three-day event that will begin on December 20.
A marathon was organized with the slogan ‘Run for Kannada’ to promote the Kannada literary event. It attracted a large number of people and sports enthusiasts.
After inaugurating the marathon at the district stadium in Mandya, the Minister said, “I feel happy to see the large crowds assembled today, extending their support to the literary meet. The entire state is looking at Mandya which is hosting the sammelana. People from across the State are attending the sammelana, and the support of the people of Mandya is essential for making the literary meet a grand success.”
Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji of Sri Adichunchangiri Mutt, who graced the occasion, said the marathon is a special event ahead of the sammelana. The message is that Kannadigas should come together to support the Kannada language and the literary festival.
Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Mahesh Joshi said the marathon has become successful with the participation of a large number of Kannada enthusiasts to support the three-day sammelana. The people of Mandya displayed their passion for Kannada and the respect they have for the language.
Sri Vinay Guruji said the Kannada Sahitya Sammelana and the marathon that Mandya is hosting are the platforms for promoting and safeguarding Kannada. Everybody has the responsibility to protect language, land, and water. Along with Kannada, the State’s art must be encouraged and supported.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kumara and actors - ‘Daali’ Dhananjay, Neenasam Satish, and Sapthami Gowda were present on the occasion.
