Paddy looked jubilant as he was quizzed by the team on the tough reality of the challenge. "Underneath these clothes its all sellotape and safety pins," he joked. "But when you're in it you kind of just get on with it.

"The actual joy of doing it - you can't call it a challenge. Honestly it's a privilege. The feeling of love, community, and people coming together, it's the best feeling in the world and I'll never forget it."

He added he was 'thinking of buying shares in Kleenex' after many emotional moments during the ride.

He was joined by a variety of guests as he made his way up testing hills and through gloomy weather in England, Wales, and Scotland.

At one point he was met by Black Lace - the group behind his favourite hit 'Agadoo' - at a motorway service station car park, in pineapple shirts. He was even joined at the end of his challenge by Olympian Sir Chris Hoy, who recently shared the devastating news of his terminal cancer diagnosis and his wife Sarra's multiple sclerosis diagnosis.
