There's more drama to come as well as heartbreaking news in next week's Coronation Street. Starting with Carla Connor, she suffers a setback when DS Lisa Swain spells out to her that she’s not ready for a relationship.

Returning to the Underworld factory Carla's horrified to discover the place ransacked. As she pulls out her phone to call the police someone strikes her over the head and she falls to the ground with no one to help her.

Later, Lisa sits at Carla’s bedside, willing her to pull through. Meanwhile, Matty Radcliffe is hauled in for questioning but Alya Nazir provides a statement corroborating his alibi. When a smug Matty makes a dig about Becky’s death, Lisa’s furious, convinced he must have had something to do with it.

Soon after, Matty and brother Logan clock Lisa watching them from her car. At the station, Alya shows Lisa and DC Kit Green a picture she’s received from her client, claiming he’s a victim of police harassment. Lisa makes out she bumped into them but Kit suspects she’s lying.

Meanwhile, as Roy Corpper and Ryan Connor arrive at the hospital to take Carla home, she admits she was hoping Lisa may have come with them. Soona after, Roy urges Lisa to build bridges with Carla as it’s clear they like each other.

Speaking of Alya, Yasmeen’s thrilled to have her back and is proud that she’s now shadowing a criminal solicitor. Later, as she returnes to the solicitor's office, Adam Barlow admits that he's missed her and suggests dinner.

Elsewhere on the cobbles, Nick Tilsely suggests Toyah Habeeb join him and Sam for tea in the flat so Sam can get used to seeing them together before they officially break the news about them making a go of a relationship.

Later, Nick tells Toyah he’s got a plan; they break their news to Leanne Battersby then go on holiday leaving her to process it. Toyah insists they wait until after Oliver's memorial and the trial and when Leanne presents Toyah with a rose bush and suggests they plant it next to Oliver’s tree in memory of Rose, Toyah’s touched.

But when Leanne sees the holiday booking on Nick’s laptop is the game up? After their close call, Nick steals himself to come clean to Leanne about him and Toyah, but he’s thwarted by the arrival of a police officer, who breaks the news that Leanne’s dad, Les, has died at work.

Reeling from shock, Leanne heads out to find Toyah as Nick quickly calls to warn her. As the sisters hug, united in their grief, it becomes apparent that Toyah already knew. When Toyah admits that Nick called her, Leanne’s confused. Nick makes out he called Toyah about the rota and the news just slipped out but when Toyah leaps to Nick’s defence, Leanne’s suspicious. Later, opening Nick’s laptop, she finds the Tenerife booking and calls the hotel.

Also on the cobbles, as Chesney Brown pulls into Freshco car park, a van driver nicks his parking space. Incensed, Chesney blocks him in, gets out of his car and heads off.

Later, a downbeat Chesney surveys the damage to his car, a van screeches past, almost knocking him off his feet and he's shocked to see it’s the same van. At the end of the week, Chesney’s stressed, struggling to make ends meet and looking after five kids on his own is taking its toll. While she's concerned, Chesney tells mother-in-law Bernie that he and Les weren’t that close.
