BBC Strictly Come Dancing expert says 'it's not reciprocated' as next bottom two 'revealed'

by · Manchester Evening News

The next Strictly Come Dancing couples to face the bottom two have been 'revealed' according to an expert. There was a shock in the ballroom last weekend when Olympian Tom Dean and his dance partner Nadiya Bychkova became the first couple to exit the competition.

Last weekend, all 15 couples performed their second routines of the BBC One dance contest. They performed for the judges' comments and scores and this time, their new points were combined with those received in week one to create a new bumper leaderboard.

Viewers were also able to vote in support of their favourites for the first time in the show's 2024 run, before the first dance-off and elimination of the 2024 series.

Tom and Nadiay found themselves up against singer Toyal Wilcox and her dance partner Neil Jones an the dance-off where both couples performed their routines from Saturday night again, with Tom and Nadiya performing their Cha Cha to Boogie Wonderland by Earth, Wind and Fire then singer Toyah and Neil performed their Jive to Nutbush City Limits by Ike and Tina Turner.

After both couples danced a second time, the judges delivered their verdicts. Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Toyah and Neil, Motsi Mabuse chose to save Toyah and Neil and Anton Du Beke chose to save Tom and Nadiya. Head judge Shirley Ballas had the casting vote and by saving Toyah and Neil, sent Tom and Nadiya home first.

Now, a body language expert has predicted who is at risk again this weekend. Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, Darren Stanton believes Toyah will 'be in trouble' again this weekend, due to the fact a ‘connection and level of rapport’ with Neil is simply not there, while he has picked out Wynne Evans as the other celeb likely to be in the bottom two.

The opera singer, who is partnered with Katya Jones, has provided plenty of laughs but Darren says his rapport with Katya is ‘not so strong’, and there is not the ‘same level of connection’ compared to the other couples.

Darren said: "Wynne’s rapport is not so strong in his connection with Katya. He’s a very funny guy and happy-go-lucky, and I also believe he is passionate and committed to the show, however, I do see him being in the bottom two with Toyah. That is based on his level of rapport, connection and interpersonal attraction with Katya, I just don’t see the same degree as I do with some of the stronger couples.

"For example, I noticed with Wynne during the results show, he faced the front and made no attempts to turn to her when the attention was on them, whereas Katya grips onto him quite tightly. He’s not really giving her anything back, it’s almost like he’s a solo performer. What she’s giving him is not quite reciprocated. I think he sees himself as more of a single entity rather than being part of a team. I’m not seeing the same degree of him being tactile, or eye contact, and we’re not seeing a great rapport demonstrated.

He continued: "I predicted Toyah would be in trouble last week, which she was. I believe she will be in the same situation this weekend based on the connection and level of rapport she has with Neil, which is not fantastic. The connection and dynamic is just not there for me, I think that goes a long way for their overall performance.

"I don’t see the trust being there for Toyah to just let go, I think she wants to keep control of the situation. To be successful in this competition, you have to give yourself over to the process - but I don’t think she is comfortable doing that just yet. Last weekend, when Toyah and Neil were voted through, there was a genuine display of surprise and shock from Toyah that she was going to be remaining in the competition, which suggests she also isn’t expecting to make it very far in the process."
