Emmerdale's Tom King 'doesn't go to prison' in devastating twist - and fans are livid
by Joe Crutchley · Manchester Evening NewsEmmerdale's villainous character Tom King, portrayed by James Chase, has finally been charged, although viewers remain sceptical about his potential imprisonment.
The soap antagonist has stirred up a significant amount of turmoil over the past year, notably through his abusive treatment of his wife Belle Dingle, played by Eden Taylor-Draper.
Belle eventually exposed the truth to her family and the police, despite Tom's efforts to conceal his actions, including disposing of a tablet containing incriminating footage. Despite the tablet being found in a severely damaged state, the police tech team managed to access its contents after some time.
Meanwhile, Belle's mental health deteriorated, leading her to admit herself into a mental health facility. This week, however, saw Belle return to the village, distressed by Tom's continued freedom.

Yet, Wednesday's episode (November 27) brought a dramatic twist. DS Foy, played by Robert Cavanah, arrived in the village and requested Tom's presence at the station, where he unveiled photographic evidence retrieved from Tom's tablet, depicting Belle in private moments.
A flustered Tom attempted to fabricate further lies, insisting he could clarify everything. However, DS Foy dismissed his claims and later informed Belle that Tom had been charged and would not be proceeding with the case against her, reports Leeds Live.

Emmerdale fans are split over the twist that's seen Tom being charged, with many taking to social media to share their predictions. While some viewers are elated at the charge, others on an Emmerdale Facebook fan group speculate this is not the finale for his storyline.
One member posted: "Tom King is charged." Yet in the thread, opinions were shared that he might not face justice, with one commenting they "I think he will escape and run away." And another agreeing with a succinct "Yep probably!"

Someone else brought attention to a promotional clip showing Belle and Tom in a confrontation that's yet to occur on screen, adding: "I agree because in the trailer they've shown it shows him pinning Belle up a car? And that has happened yet?".
Meanwhile, there's a clear sense of frustration among viewers who fear Tom might evade punishment, as a fan stated: "I will be so angry if they decide to do this, kill him or let him rot in prison!" With another concurring, "Same!"
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
