Gemma Atkinson has revealed Gorka Marquez's tearful reaction as she opened up about suffering a health scare. The Hits Radio host has thanked the hospital where she was checked over after finding a lump in her breast.

Gemma, 40, explained how she'd found a small lump during a conversation with her Hits Radio co-host Mike Toolan. She explained she'd been for a mammogram that day and an ultrasound and was given the all-clear.

Speaking to Mike during a recent episode of their Drivetime show, the mum-of-two said: "I had my very first mammogram today. I found a little lump in my boob about two months ago..."

She interrupted her own story to tell how she'd sought advice from Gorka's celebrity Strictly Come Dancing partner Dr Punam Krishan, with her and Mike able to have a joke about Gemma being forward with the GP shortly after they had met for the first time.

Gemma said: "I actually at one point asked Dr Punam to check..." to which Mike stopped her and asked: "Gorka's dance partner from Morning Live?" Gemma continued: "The first time I met Punam in rehearsals, 'Hi, nice to meet you. Please can you look at this?'"

Explaining what happened at her appointment, the mum-of-two went on to share: "They did a mammogram and an ultrasound, then I had to do that wait in the waiting room. But she just called me and literally, her words were, 'No concerns, no worries, nothing sinister, just a little cyst,' and I want [sighs with relief]. Because not everyone's as lucky."

Asked by Mike how Gorka was with everything, Gemma laughed as she said: "No, of course he wasn't. He cries at everything, Gorka. They started asking me about Mia and Thiago while I had my hand over my head and I just heard [sniffles] and I popped my head round and I went, 'What you crying for?' He went, 'I don't know! Is she going to be ok?'"

She added: "But yeah, I'm all good. All is well." Hits Radio shared the clip on Instagram with the caption: "Gemma told us about her first mammogram experience last week…" to which Gemma then added in the comments section: "Always check your boobies!"

The former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale star also shared the video to her Instagram Story and wrote to her two million followers: "I felt very lucky last week. If ever anyone feels worried, please go get checked. Thank you to the lovely staff at Bolton NHS Hospital."
