ITV I'm A Celebrity fans 'done' as they praise Alan Halsall for 'keeping his cool' following 'uncomfortable' scenes
by Jessica Sansome · Manchester Evening NewsI'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here viewers were quick to turn on one campmate as they praised Alan Halsall for how he handled the first tense moment in camp.
The ITV reality show returned to screens for its 2024 series last weekend. So far, it's been a harmonious affair. The ten original campmates who headed into the Australian jungle have now been joined by two latecomers, Maura Higgins and Reverend Richard Coles.
But during Saturday night's (November 23) visit to the jungle, tensions started to flare between two unexpected campmates - Coronation Street star Alan and BBC Radio 1 presenter Dean McCullough.
Following a huge helping of junk food after Maura and Richard's sneaky secret mission and stomach-churning eating trial, a sleepy Dean decided to take a nap. But with chores still to do, Jane Moore had to go and collect firewood, . She confessed in keeping with camp rules: "I can’t do it on my own".
Watching Jane head off on her own, Alan Halsall decided to take the reins and wake Dean up so he could help out. But a sleepy and disorientated Dean was left less than impressed at being woken and hardly stirred as Alan asked him: "You don’t fancy it? No?".
When he got little response from BBC Radio 1 presenter Dean, Coronation Street actor Alan decided to go down with Jane to help her so she wasn’t alone. As Dean headed to join Alan and Jane, he said to Alan: "You can go back now."
Alan then explained: "I was trying to wake you up as soft as I could.” Dean responded: "Listen to me. If you’re gonna wake me up, you need to give me a minute, alright? It takes a couple of minutes for my contact lenses to get back working again, alright, so you don’t need to turn around to me and say ‘do you not fancy it?’ ok? And then turn around and walk away.”
Alan replied: "I’ve listened to you, Jane was halfway down here, that’s why I went…" to which Dean said: "Ok I get that but you need to give me a minute mate." The two continued back and forth, and I'm A Celeb viewers will wait and see whether it will become a feud between the pair.

The moment saw I'm A Celeb viewers quickly flock to social media - and they weren't overly happy with how Dean handled the situation and praised Alan for keeping a level head.

Alan did not deserve that!! #imaceleb." @stephencomedy added: "That was uncomfortable to watch! Alan is one of the nicest men in showbiz and i think Dean just showed his true colours. #ImACeleb."
