Coleen Rooney has opened up on I'm A Celebrity about her relationship with Wayne and his 'mistakes'.

The mum-of-four spoke to dancer and presenter Oti Mabuse about her marriage in her latest appearance on-screen on the ITV reality show from the jungle camp in Australia. Coleen described how her marriage had been 'difficult' over the years as the pair's relationship had played out in the public eye, but said they were 'happy now' and a 'team', the Liverpool Echo reports.

She said former Manchester United and England footballer husband Wayne had 'not been forgiven by the public' for 'mistakes' he has made in the public eye as she revealed he struggled with the fame his successful career had brought the family. On Thursday night's episode, Coleen said: "If he could’ve just played football and had none of the fame I think he would’ve been happier within life."

Coleen and Wayne got married in 2008 in a ceremony in Santa Margherita Ligure, Italy. They were both 22 at the time after being engaged from the ages of 17 and 18.

The Liverpool-born TV personality and WAG admitted that she and Wayne 'felt older' because they had grown up quickly and were living in the public eye. She added: "Since the first mistake he’s made, that’s been in the public, people have not forgiven.

"When things have happened the public have wanted it to just go oh, split, you know, that's it, split them up. But the fact is, there's always been love still there."

Coleen added: "It has been difficult, but we're happy now, after all those years… we're a team." She admitted she felt anxious about the prospect of leaving her four children for a number of weeks after heading Down Under, but said plans had been put in place for while she is away.

Previously, she said: "I am looking forward to it. Don't get me wrong. I'm really anxious about leaving the kids.

"That's been my biggest thing. I've come to terms with it. I've planned and prepped.

"I've got an army of family and friends all helping out with the kids so they are going to be fine. They are probably going to have a great time while I'm away."
