BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Tasha Ghouri praised for 'classy' reaction to Chris McCausland win

by · Manchester Evening News

Tasha Ghouri has been praised for her 'classy' reaction to losing out in the Strictly Come Dancing final. The former Love Island star competed in the last week of the competition with professional dance partner Aljaz Skorjanec.

The pair finished joint top of the leaderboard at the end of the grand final on Saturday night (December 14) alongside JB Gill and Lauren Oakley after the four finalists had to perform three dances each.

During the final, Tasha was hailed as "quite possibly" the best Strictly Come Dancing dancer the show has ever seen after she performed a couple’s choice routine to What About Us by P!nk.

She and dance partner Aljaz were given 39 points from the judges following Craig Revel Horwood saying he would have liked "more from the pair". Head judge Shirley Ballas praised Ghouri for getting "on top" of her emotion, and getting that to come through in the routine, while Anton Du Beke said: "Are you the best dancer on Strictly Come Dancing? Quite possibly".

Later, her "old-timey" performance to Sing, Sing, Sing by Benny Goodman featured a dramatic black and white staging, with the reality star in a red dress. With Aljaz flinging Ghouri around the stage, Anton Du Beke called it “the dream dance” while also hailing it as “perfect”.

Craig called her “Broadway ready” after she covered a swathe of dance styles, including foxtrot and the quickstep, during the routine. " loved it, I loved it, and I loved it some more," Shirley also said before she was given a perfect score of 40 points and was surprised by her brother, who she thought could not be in the studio on Saturday.

Tasha also became emotional following her last dance, an American smooth to Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi, following which she was told "you carry yourself with such elegance, and beauty, you are very special" by Shirley. Aljaz said he "doesn’t think this will be our last dance", before they awarded another perfect score of 40 points from the judges.

But their near-perfect 119 points out of a possible 120 wasn't anough on the night as Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell lifted the Glitterball trophy.

After the final, when a video of Chris and Dianne's winning moment was shared on Instagram, Tasha was among those to respond as she posted a string of red love hearts and added: "YESSSSSSS!!!!!!" in the comments section. And fans were quick to reply to her comment with praise.
