ITV I'm A Celebrity's Danny Jones' position on show 'threatened' as he's dealt blow ahead of first elimination
by Jessica Sansome · Manchester Evening NewsDanny Jones' position on the show is said to be 'threatened' in a race for the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here title this year. The McFly star is among the famous faces to have headed Down Under to take part in the ITV reality show.
He's been seen experiencing camp life in Australia alongside the likes of N-Dubz singer Tulisa, former Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse, former Love Island finalist Maura Higgins, BBC Radio 1 presenter Melvin Doom and Coronation Street star Alan Halsall.
Earlier this week, fans belived Danny had sealed his win following the Fright Bus challenge and he was also a firm favourite to be crowned King of the Jungle before he even stepped foot in the basic camp alongside his fellow famous faces.
But there's been a tough blow for Danny as his odds have dropped recently, and he’s now priced at 8/11 to win. We attribute this shift to the late arrivals of Maura and Reverend Richard Coles, both of whom have quickly gained support from fans and punters alike.
In fact, there’s been a huge surge of bets on Richardthis week, and he's now close behind Danny at 3/1 to win. Betfred’s Kayley Cornelius said: “Danny Jones is desperately clinging onto his frontrunner spot to be the next winner of the jungle, but with a new fan favourite quickly gaining ground in the betting markets, his position is now under threat.
"Hot on Danny’s heels is Richard Coles, now priced at a competitive 3/1, many are starting to believe he could be the dark horse of the series. Despite being a latecomer, the Reverend has certainly won over fans and viewers at home.
"From his witty one-liners to his hilarious chats about LGBT culture with campmate GK Barry, and his fascinating stories about his varied and impressive career, he’s been nothing short of entertaining – so it’s no surprise that punters and fans alike are now backing the former Communards star to be crowned the next king of the jungle winner!"
