Shoppers ditch tops and jeans for 'great' denim dress with pockets 40pc off for Black Friday

Joanie Clothing has kicked off its Black Friday sale, offering a whopping 40pc discount on all items across the site. The sale, which the brand say is their biggest ever, is live now and will run through to Tuesday, December 3.

Shoppers can expect to find reductions on everything from dresses and shoes to outerwear and accessories. Joanie Clothing is striving to become a more sustainable brand, a commitment that is reflected in its new party-ready collection.

The winter 2024 range features recycled polyester velvet styles, made using recycled plastic bottles and other single-use plastics, as well as sparkly designs created without unsustainable sequins. This proves that glamorous partywear doesn't have to harm the planet.

One of the standout pieces in the sale is the Mabel Denim Square Neck Pinafore Dress, which is on offer at £45, down from £75. Crafted from a vintage-style cotton mid-wash denim with a hint of added stretch, this number features a square neckline at the front and back, a back zip with retro ring pull detail, a high waistline leading to a full, knee-length skirt and functional patch pockets.

The monochrome number boasts a V-neckline with a wrap dress-style body and voluminous balloon sleeves, available in sizes 8-26. The midaxi dress also features an adjustable back tie to add shape and a long skirt with pockets at the hips.

Nothing screams Christmas quite like a red dress. Make a bold statement in this Victoria Floral Damask Balloon Sleeve Midaxi Dress, which is now available in the Black Friday sale for £47.40, reduced from £79.

Other notable mentions in the Joanie Black Friday sale include this sparkly Gaia Gold Lurex V-Neck Midaxi Dress, which has been reduced to £59.40 down from £99. The 70s-inspired dress features a v-neckline with an underbust yoke, long, semi-sheer balloon sleeves with rouleau button cuffs, a lined bodice and skirt, an elasticated back panel with a sash belt at the back and pockets at the hip.

Joanie Clothing has also launched extended Christmas Returns, which runs until Friday, January 10 2025. This is perfect if you're buying pieces to gift to your loved ones, although we have noticed that not all sizes are available.

Speaking on sustainability, Joanie Clothing's Brand Manager, Lucy, highlighted the brand's environmental stance: "We love a bit of sparkle at JCHQ, but we don't love how they're made or when they are found at the bottom of the ocean twenty years later. We've taken the stance that until a more responsible version is widely available at our price point, we'll sit out of the sequin game.

"We've worked closely with our suppliers to find or develop more responsible options using recycled fibres and prints that shed far fewer microplastics (remember use a guppy bag when washing to capture even more), which means we can sparkle without leaving a trail of glitter behind."
