Jodie Whittaker returns to role as she makes Doctor Who announcement
by Jasmine Allday · Manchester Evening NewsJodie Whittaker has shared exciting news about her return as the Doctor.
After her successful stint as the Thirteenth Doctor on the beloved BBC show Doctor Who, before David Tennant's short comeback and the role being taken over by Ncuti Gatwa, Jodie disclosed during an appearance on BBCs Morning Live that she and Mandip Gill, known for her role as Yasmin 'Yaz' Khan, are set to reunite for an audio series titled The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures.
On the programme, Jodie spilled details: "We've recorded three I think so far. I think there's quite a few in the season. It's amazing; it's the dream scenario. It's playing the Doctor without learning the lines, it's my favourite part, I adore playing the Doctor. On the first day, I said to Mandip, 'I don't know if I can remember how to do the voice, I was like - what voice did I use?'

"And she said, 'that one'. I thought I couldn't do it, and they gave me a chair, and I said, 'I can't sit down and play the doctor, even if it's not TV, I've got to be manic and fidget - I can't sit down.'"
Explaining the physicality of the role: "So they've given me a little space and physically, it is as exhausting as doing it on film because I can't sit still. It's the dream scenario. You play the doctor and with Mandip, and no freezing cold fields - just a warm studio."
Previously, Jodie had expressed being "over the moon" about reprising the iconic role.

She expressed her excitement, stating: "I'm over the moon to be joining Big Finish for more adventures in the TARDIS. Recording the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz is a really lovely thing to revisit. One of the things Mandip and I used to love on Doctor Who was getting in, doing a new episode and meeting a brand-new cast. I just can't wait to step back into the boots, pull on the coat and get cracking."
Mandip also shared her enthusiasm, saying: "Doctor Who has been a huge part of my career and personal life and I am looking forward to seeing how I can further enrich my character through this exhilarating series. To be able to work with Jodie again is a dream come 'true', we have such a special friendship, I'm sure the recordings will be filled with laughter."
