BBC Breakfast viewers left fuming as presenters go 'missing' during live coverage
by Jasmine Allday · Manchester Evening NewsBBC Breakfast fans were left feeling frustrated today as two popular presenters were noticeably absent from the show.
Jon Kay presented the US election coverage alongside Sumi Somaskanda, but viewers were missing Sally Nugent and Carol Kirkwood.
One viewer tweeted, "Where's Sally #bbcbreakfast? " while another asked, " #bbcbreakfast. Where's Carol with the weather? " A third fan wondered, "Where are all the BBC reporters? How come Jon is with Americans #bbcbreakfast?"
The show's format change also caused confusion among viewers, particularly with the switching between EST and GMT time. One fan pointed out: "Problems for people getting ready to go to work...... The time at the bottom of the screen changes every couple of minutes ! ! ? ? [02.09 ...07.09 ...etc.] #BBCBreakfast."

Others expressed disappointment at the lack of UK news, with one viewer writing: "#bbcbreakfast One hour of BBC Breakfast and so far no local news or weather.. What am I paying my licence fee for?" Another added: "#bbcbreakfast only good for time today brings back the speaking clock." A third said: "I understand the importance of the US election, but endless coverage of a split screen image of crowd/building/flags isn't, perhaps, what many of us appreciate right now! Some UK news included in this would be easy enough to do and better as a public service! #BBCBreakfast."
While Carol Kirkwood had not been seen on screen, she has kept her followers informed about the weather through social media. She posted: "The weather really is stuck in a rut atm. High pressure is dominating - bringing us the same type of weather for the rest of this week and into the middle of next week. There's some rain today in the W Isles, and on Sunday Scot and N Ire could see some rain... It's a cold start in NE Scotland, but mild (for the time of year! ) for the rest of the UK."

Earlier this week, Sally Nugent voiced her concerns for Jon Kay, who was reporting from the US. She remarked: "Jon, you still haven't said when you're going to sleep. I am going to worry about you all day now," to which Jon responded: "I have no idea."
Ben Thompson, another presenter, chimed in with advice for Jon: "Pace yourself, it is going to be a long week, we might not see you for a few weeks if it keeps going on and on. Take it easy, Jon, we will see soon."
Nigel Farage was spotted at Trump HQ during the coverage, while Kamala Harris's headquarters in Washington DC were also covered, although she was not expected to make an appearance.
Sally later appeared on the BBC Breakfast's red sofa and Carol appeared to share the latest weather updates.
