Teenage boy taken to hospital after collision with police van on 999 call

Hyde Road, in Gorton, Manchester, was closed on Saturday night from around 9.30pm as emergency services were called to the scene near to the Tesco Express store.
In an update on Sunday, police thankfully confirmed the boy suffered 'very minor injuries'.
The force said he was taken to hospital and 'remained there as a precaution' as investigations continued. GMP said in a statement the incident has been referred to the force's Professional Standards Directorate.
No age for the boy has been revealed.

The M.E.N. understands the van was travelling on blue lights to attend an incident at the time, although further detail hasn't been revealed.
In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 9.30pm yesterday evening (Saturday 14 December 2024), we responded to a road traffic collision between a police vehicle and a pedestrian on Hyde Road in Manchester.
"The pedestrian - a teenager - was taken to hospital with very minor injuries and remained there as a precaution.

"In-line with normal procedure, referrals have been made to GMP's Professional Standards Directorate."
No further information has been provided.
The road was closed between Peacock Grove and Wellington Street and reopened just before 1am on Sunday morning.
Writing on Facebook, GMP Manchester East said: "Thank you for your cooperation while our officers responded to a road traffic collision in Gorton this evening.
"We are pleased to report that a pedestrian who was struck has received very minor injuries and remains in hospital. Hyde Road has now been reopened."
