Netflix's 'addictive' new conspiracy thriller reaches 'stratospheric new levels of cool'
by Lucas Hill-Paul · Manchester Evening NewsGet ready for a heart-pounding experience this weekend with an eight-part thriller that's sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Available now for Netflix subscribers at no additional charge, the new conspiracy drama has been hailed as "addictive" by critics who claim it "gets better and better" with every episode.
The series stars Colman Domingo, fresh from his Oscar-nominated role in Rustin, and follows CNN media pundit Muncie Daniels as he becomes entangled in a murder investigation after discovering the body of a white supremacist.
Muncie quickly becomes a target for the local police, the victim's far-right supporters, and even the FBI when he is wrongfully accused of the crime.
To clear his name, Muncie must reach out to his distant family and unravel a deep conspiracy, reports the Express.

The Guardian awarded the show four stars, praising it as a "slick, smart conspiracy thriller that gets better and better" with each instalment.
Their review notes: "As well as being smartly plotted and expertly paced, The Madness has a subtle but great line in showing how Muncie must navigate the traditional tropes as a Black man (police scepticism, approaching strangers for information, or simply being out and about in certain neighbourhoods).
"All the constraints an Everyman at the centre of a conspiracy thriller normally operates under are given extra, inescapable torque and the tension builds accordingly."
FandomWire praised The Madness as an "exquisite cat and mouse thriller" in their review.
"The Madness is a strong political, psychological chess match worthy of a binge," they commented on the shows appeal.
Collider was impressed with the show as well, describing it as an "excellent, twisty thriller" that's mainly "a showcase of Colman Domingo's powerful screen presence.
"The Madness successfully balances competing and evolving interests, as well as twists and turns, without becoming convoluted, although slight adjustments could amplify the story's overall impact.
"As a whole, however, The Madness offers plenty of thrills, anchored by a believable, twisty conspiracy with real stakes."
The Telegraph gave the drama four stars, observing: "Netflix's paranoid drama covers familiar hot-button issues, but is instantly addictive."

The Hollywood Reporter, while not as enthusiastic about the series overall, concurred that it is a must-watch to experience Domingo reach "stratospheric new levels of cool".
Highlighting Domingo's performance, they said: "The series is a pure star vehicle for Domingo," going on to elaborate, "as if people had sat in a room and brainstormed cool things Colman Domingo could do, cool things Colman Domingo could say and cool things Colman Domingo could wear, and then turned Colman Domingo loose to elevate its level of cool even further.
"There's an underlying giddiness in almost every frame at this being a thing that the hard-working Emmy-winning, Oscar-nominated star gets to do. And with its premiere date falling on his 55th birthday, it's a heck of a gift for an actor who has surely earned this showcase."
