BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Pete Wicks' popularity will 'spell trouble' for co-star
by Jessica Sansome · Manchester Evening NewsPete Wicks' popularity on Strictly Come Dancing could 'spell trouble' for one of his co-stars. The reality star is currently back in training after he and his professional dance partner, Jowita Przystal, made it through to the quarter-finals of the BBC One dance contest.
Strictly fans saw Pete kick off the latest live show last Saturday night (November 23) with an elegant tango. Dressed in an all-black suit, podcast host and former TOWIE star Pete guided and dipped his professional partner Jowita across the dancefloor to Easy Lover by Philip Bailey and Phil Collins.
The performance landed them a score of 29 out of a possible 40 points from the judges. It was then on Sunday night (November 24) during the latest results show that it was confirmed Pete and Jowita had made it through to the quarter-final of Strictly's 2024 series, which is the show's annual Musicals Week, and will see the pair perform to West Side Story.
But speaking on Strictly spin-off It Takes Two, Pete said it was the "biggest shock" he'd had so far in the competition and that he wondered whether there had been a mix-up. He said: "I thought I was going since week one, so every week is a surprise but that was probably the biggest shock out of the lot!"
While Pete remains the bookmakers' favourite to leave this weekend, priced at 8/13, they believe that it's actually Gladiators star Montell Douglas who is most likely to get the axe. With odds of 13/8 and a string of rocky weeks on the show, it seems Montell’s luck may be running out, especially as Pete’s fans show no signs of slowing down in their support.
JB Gill is another celebrity at risk this weekend, with odds of 5/1. However, after his strong performance last week, we’re confident that if he ends up in a dance-off with Montell, he’ll sail through to dance for at least another week.

Betfred’s Kayley Cornelius said: "While Pete Wicks remains the bookmakers' favourite to leave this weekend, his fans don’t seem ready to give up. They continue to rally behind the former TOWIE star, and he could very well make it to the final as a result, defying his 8/13 odds of elimination once again.
"This could spell trouble for Montell Douglas, who is priced at 13/8 to be eliminated and is trailing just behind Pete. The Gladiator’s star has faced a rocky few weeks, narrowly surviving last weekend after another tense battle to stay in the competition."
She added: "Although she had a lucky escape, her luck may run out if she ends up in the dance-off against JB Gill. Priced at 5/1, JB is also at risk this weekend, but after scoring an impressive 46 and topping the leaderboard last week with Lauren Oakley, the pair are showing determination to make it to the final. If Montell wants to secure her spot, her best chance is to hope she faces Pete Wicks in the dance-off rather than JB, who will be tough to beat."
