Coronation Street fans say 'it's not him' as Max's four-word comment rules him out of Joel Deering's murder

Coronation Street fans have said 'it's not' Max Tuner who has killed Joel Deering after he was charged with the solicitor's murder. Weatherfield's biggest whodunnit has been underway ever since the solicitor's body was found last month.

And during Wednesday night's (November 13) trip to the cobbles it appeared that leading investigator DC Kit Green has his man as Max confessed to killing Joel.

As fans of the ITV soap know, Joel first went missing at the end of September. The news was revealed when he failed to show up to court where it was thought that he'd face comeuppance for some of his twisted crimes.

The police carried on investigating and it wasn't long before the case became a murder investigation after Joel's body was found floating down a river. However, it was confirmed he'd been killed with a heavy weapon before entering the water and several people have since been put in the frame.

But earlier this week Corrie viewers saw Carla leaving the factory on the night Joel disappeared. At first viewers thought she herself may have something to hide but as she called out to someone, viewers were shocked this time to see for the first time that it was Max and Lauren outside No.8 Coronation Street in the dead of night putting a suitcase into the boot of David Platt's car.

During the mid-week visit to Weatherfield, DS Lisa Swain confided in Carla that she believed she was being framed by Joel’s killer, after she was arrested an questioned by Kit, and she was terrified that more planted evidence would turn up. Using what she knows, Carla confronted Max and Lauren only for them to keep up their story that they were planning to do a runner to evade Joel.

But Carla reported them to the police and while they planned to go on the run, Lauren told Max she couldn't go through with it because of baby Frankie. He convinced her to take him with them but he ended up confessing to Kit that he had murdered Joel. He revealed how he had confronted him using Lisa’s CS spray, only to have been overpowered by Joel, who strangled him while holding him over the edge of a bridge.

Max recalled how he picked up a rock and hit Joel with it, before pushing his body into the river below and running off with his suitcase. Following his confession, Max was charged with murder but with Joel's killer set to be revealed later this week, is Max telling the truth.

Meanwhile, back at Dee-Dee’s flat, Lisa quizzed Lauren about Max's confession, asking her if she had anything to do with Joel’s death. Lauren insisted that she didn’t, before admitting that she suspected something strange was going on but had kept quiet because she loved Max.

But thanks don't think it's Max due to a specific four-word comment during the latest flashback scenes. @OliReading said: "#Corrie if Max is admitting to it then it's definitely not max!" @marc_blowers commented: "It will not be Max or Lauren there will be a twist, they make a good couple, this is leading everyone up the garden path, there has been nothing in the press about them leaving either #corrie."

So that just leaves Kit or Lauren. I'm heavily torn between the 2 of them. All the others I've ruled out now. Bring on Friday!!! #Corrie."
