I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! returns to TV screens tonight with a new batch of 10 famous faces heading into the Australian jungle.

Among this year's celebrities is Tulisa Contostavlos, famous for being one of three members of R&B group N-Dubz and a judge on the X Factor.

The 36-year-old vocalist joined N-Dubz when friends Dappy, who is also Tulisa's cousin, and Fazer decided they wanted a female singer in their rap group. They went on to release four UK top 10 singles - including I Need You and We Dance On - and four UK top 10 albums.

N-Dubz split up when they parted ways with their record label over creative differences in 2011. Dappy went on to pursue a solo career, while Tulisa went on to join the X Factor.

At the age of 23, Tulisa replaced judge Cheryl Cole for the eighth series of the ITV talent show, becoming the youngest ever judge on the panel. She mentored the groups during her first year, with Little Mix going onto win the show and becoming the show's most successful girl group. Tulisa left the show after two seasons and was replaced by Sharon Osbourne.

In 2012, she reached the UK number one spot with her first solo single Young. Her debut solo album The Female Boss reached number 35 in the UK charts.

Tulisa, who is from Camden in London, has also ventured into acting, starring in Channel 4's Dubplate Drama and Slasher film Demons Never Die.

More recently, Tulisa reunited with her N-Dubz band members to release new music and go on tour. N-Dubz's fourth studio album Timeless was released in August last year.

Tulisa has previously revealed that she suffers from Bell's palsy, a temporary paralysis condition that affects the muscles in the face. Speaking on Loose Women in 2020, Tulisa explained that she started to suffer with the condition after a serious horse riding accident that caused nerve damage.

She opened up about people commenting her looks, telling the panel: "There’s been times people have criticised the way I look and my face, not knowing I’m going through a Bell’s Palsy attack. Someone online said I looked like I was having a stroke. I have emergency steroids on me and I know how to handle it."

Ahead of entering the jungle, Tulisa insisted her appearance in this year's series was not a "career move" and that she wants to be her "true, authentic self".

Speaking about her reasons for appearing on I’m A Celebrity, she said: "My number one mission is to be my true, authentic self. If me being my authentic self connects with people in a mass way, then it must mean I’m doing something right in life.

"But I am not going to go looking for it. This isn’t a career move for me either. I will always go back to N-Dubz and this is a one-off experience."

Tulisa compared her upcoming experience on the show to Lord Of The Rings, saying: "I am like Frodo Baggins on an unexpected journey. I feel really adventurous this year and the place I am now in, I want to do things that take me out of my comfort zone."

She admitted she has not told her N-Dubz bandmates she is appearing in the show, but said the friends she has told are "really excited". She added: "They feel it will be good for people to see the person I am, and not the perception. They are two very different people and they are excited."

Tulisa will be joined in the jungle by the likes of WAG Coleen Rooney, former boxer Barry McGuigan, podcaster GK Barry and McFly star Danny Jones when the show returns to ITV1 on Sunday. Also heading to the Australian outback is BBC Radio 1 stars Dean McCullough and Melvin Odoom, former Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse, Coronation Street actor Alan Halsall and Loose Women’s Jane Moore.

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! starts on ITV1 on Sunday, November 17 at 9pm.
