The 'sweetest' cat with a broken leg, and the bid to get him back home

by · Manchester Evening News

A cat rescuer is looking for answers after being alerted to an unknown cat with a broken leg in the M23 area. Tiffany Dodd is a full time cat rescuer and re-homer, and was told about a tabby cat who had been living for a couple of months 'in all weathers'.

Tiffany, who runs the YouTube page @rescuecatsmanchester, took the cat in and has called him Gucci. Now she is on a quest to see if can trace his owners.

She explained that she believes that Gucci has previously had owners that have cared for him due to a leg fracture. This is because when she took him for a scan, Tiffany found that Gucci had received 'specialist surgery' from a vet to help treat the injury.

"A lady called me because she had seen him for a couple of months. They built him a shelter," Tiffany told the Manchester Evening News.

It was Gucci's leg which drew Tiffany's concern. "I worried about his leg," she said, "it was sticking out."

After taking Gucci for a scan and discovering that Gucci had previously had surgery, Tiffany took the first steps to try and locate his owner.

"I put a collar on him with a little message on it saying does this cat have an owner," she said. "He had that for a a week and I didn't hear from anyone."

After hearing that he had been in danger with a group of children, Tiffany decided to take matters into her own hands and took him home. Now, Gucci is staying with her until either an owner comes forward or someone adopts him.

She said: "I rescue and rehome myself, so I've taken him in, and if they can't find the owner then I'll have him adopted. But I need to find out if he has any owner."

If no-one comes forward then Tiffany will find someone to adopt him. Nonetheless, she also urged any owner to come forward even if 'you don't want Gucci back'.

"If by chance, you are his owner, please contact me, even if you don't want Gucci back," she said. "I understand circumstances change and it is difficult to find help from shelters as they are full.

"Whatever your situation, I would never judge. I would just like Gucci to be in a forever home, not waiting."

Describing what her new charge is like, she told the Manchester Evening News: "He's just the sweetest cat, the most cute personality. Really loving and energetic and full of beans. He's always getting into trouble."
