ITV I'm A Celebrity Coleen Rooney's teen engagement and 'love' for husband Wayne despite ‘cheating’ scandals
by Liv Clarke · Manchester Evening NewsI’m A Celebrity’s Coleen Rooney has been in the spotlight for years since she began dating legendary footballer Wayne Rooney in her teens. Now the WAG and TV personality is taking on a new challenge as she settles into life in the jungle for the 2024 series of the ITV show.
The 38-year-old married Wayne, 39, back in 2008 in a ceremony in Italy and the couple share four sons together: 15-year-old Kai, 11-year-old Klay, Kit, eight, and Cass, six. Coleen has already admitted missing her brood while in the jungle and she received a cushion with a photo of her family on it as her luxury item earlier this week.
Together the couple have experienced many ups and downs, including Wayne’s cheating scandals, but they have remained united. They first met when they were 12 and started dating when they were 16.

In 2003 the couple got engaged and then in 2008 they married in Portofino, where their favourite bands Westlife and the Stereophonics both performed. They soon welcomed their first child, Kai, in 2009.

But over the years cheating allegations have emerged, with Wayne reportedly paying women for sex. In 2017, the footballer was arrested for drink driving, having been caught behind the wheel of a car belonging to office worker Laura Simpson, who he had met at a bar earlier that night. The couple spent some time apart, but later reconciled.
Coleen has previously opened up about Wayne’s past infidelity scandals and how they’ve pushed their relationship to breaking point, yet the ‘love’ they have for each other has helped them get through it
Speaking on Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast, Coleen said: "With me and Wayne, I've always said there was always love still there so why throw it away when you can work at it. If you work at it and it doesn't work, then forget about it and go your own separate ways. But there's always been love, there's always been.”

She added: "We've never wanted to part but situations have set in where it could have happened and we mightn't have got through it but we have. That's the way I've got to look at it. Hopefully it's going to be a nice smooth sailing marriage. I don't know if you can get one of them."
Speaking about how young they were when they met, she said: "We've known each other from a young age and been together from a very young age...We've grew up together and we know each other well. If you ask me what me and Wayne are, I'd say we're a team. We've helped each other through life. We're good at seeing the better outcome rather than the worst."
