Police issue statement after woman found dead in house in Oldham

Police have issued a statement after a woman was found dead at a property in Oldham on Saturday.

Officers were called to a concern for welfare of a woman at an address on Honeywell Lane in the early hours of Saturday morning (November 16).

Emergency services attended, and sadly found a woman in her 40s who was pronounced dead at the scene. There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances around her death.

A scene has been in place all day as police worked on the scene. One man was arrested at the scene, but has since been released.

Officers said a scene will remain in place throughout the night as they continue their work.

In a statement, GMP said: "Officers were called to a report of a concern for the welfare of a woman from an address on Honeywell Lane in Oldham in the early hours of this morning (16/11/24).

"Emergency services attended and a woman in her 40s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Her death is being treated as non-suspicious.

"Officers arrested a 35-year-old man at the scene, he has since been released with no further action. A file will be prepared and submitted to the coroner.

"A scene will remain in place on Honeywell Lane through the night and into tomorrow and we thank the public for their patience as we remain at the scene."
