BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Dianne Buswell shares unseen 'apprehensive' Chris McCausland clip and told 'look at him now'
by Jessica Sansome · Manchester Evening NewsDianne Buswell has been reflecting on her and Chris McCausland's Strictly Come Dancing journey and has been flooded with messages from fans as she shared a previously unseen clip of their first meeting.
The comedian was paired with the professional dancer right at the start of the 2024 series back in September after becoming the first blind person to ever take part in the BBC One dance contest.
They quickly created their own team name, thanks to Dianne's father. The pair have a close relationship with Mark, who lives in Australia but is visiting Dianne in the UK, and Chris told host Claudia Winkleman during the first live show what Dianne said to her dad when they were matched together.

Chris said: "Her dad let the cat out the bag, he let it slip that when Dianne was paired with me even though she claimed that she wanted to be with me, she said to her dad, 'don't worry dad, winning isn't everything'." Claudia and the rest of the celebrities erupted into laughter.
The name has since stuck and on Wednesday (November 20), as they got stuck into more training having made it through to week ten of Strictly's 20th-anniversary series, which will take place live this Saturday night (November 23) back in Elstree Studio's after last weekend's jaunt to Blackpool, Dianne reflected on how far she and Chris had come.
She shared a video, in which some of the footage did feature during the launch show, in which she introduced herself to Chris for the first time by shouting: "It's Dianne," before running to give him a hug, with Chris lifting her from the floor and spinning her around. "I'm so happy," she exclaimed.
As they spoke to one another, Chris said they were "going to have fun" and told him: "I think you're going to surprise yourself!" When Chris joked she'll be "sick of him in two weeks" she vowed she wouldn't and that she was a "big fan" but when Chris didn't return the gushing compliment, he said: "I would say I love your dancing but that doesn't mean anything."
"But when admitted to being 'apprehensive' about what was to come but Dianne told him: "Well, I think everyone coming into this show doesn't know what they're getting themselves into but what I know you'll have is a lot of fun. It's going to be a lot of fun."
Captioning the sweet clip, Dianne said: "Awww just came across this in my videos ! This was over 10 weeks ago now when team winning isn’t everything first met. 'It’s diannnnnnneeee'. What a dream team." And their fans were quick to respond with plenty of love and support.
