ITV I'm A Celebrity's Ant McPartlin 'wouldn't stand for it' as he wades in on 'bust-up'

Ant McPartlin has accused Alan Halsall of being 'passive aggressive' as he was the first to experience a clash in the jungle with Dean McCullough in I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here.

The ITV reality show's host was speaking with co-presenter Dec Donnelly following the programme's latest installment on Saturday night (November 23) in which BBC Radio 1 presenter Dean had a heated exchange with the Coronation Street star in the programme over how the actor had handled waking him up.

Following a huge helping of junk food after Maura Higgins and Richard Coles' sneaky secret mission and stomach-churning eating trial, a sleepy Dean decided to take a nap. But with chores still to do, Jane Moore had to go and collect firewood, . She confessed in keeping with camp rules: "I can’t do it on my own".

Watching Jane head off on her own, Alan decided to take the reins and wake Dean up so he could help out. But a sleepy and disorientated Dean was left less than impressed at being woken and hardly stirred as Alan asked him: "You don’t fancy it? No?".

When he got little response from BBC Radio 1 presenter Dean, Coronation Street actor Alan decided to go down with Jane to help her so she wasn’t alone. As Dean headed to join Alan and Jane, he said to Alan: "You can go back now."

Alan then explained: "I was trying to wake you up as soft as I could.” Dean responded: "Listen to me. If you’re gonna wake me up, you need to give me a minute, alright? It takes a couple of minutes for my contact lenses to get back working again, alright, so you don’t need to turn around to me and say ‘do you not fancy it?’ ok? And then turn around and walk away.”

Alan replied: "I’ve listened to you, Jane was halfway down here, that’s why I went…" to which Dean said: "Ok I get that but you need to give me a minute mate." The two continued back and forth, and I'm A Celeb viewers will wait and see whether it will become a feud between the pair.

Ant later addressed the row on his and Dec’s Instagram Live, dubbed Jungle Club, the Mirror reports. Dec started by saying: "Can we talk about the first little bit of tension in the camp", to which Ant replied: “What would you have done, would you have kicked off?

"Alan was kind of OK about it, but he had a little bit of passive aggressiveness back as well, didn’t he?” But Ant added of Dean’s outburst: “I wouldn’t stand for any of that… I would be like ‘shut-up’.”

It comes after Dean later said in the Bush Telegraph: "I opened my eyes and wee Tyrone from Coronation Street is like: 'Come on, mate, you need to go down to the bottom of the creek.'

"He didn't even give me a chance to say yes or no because he went: 'You don't fancy it? No?' and ran. He was being a real camp leader. I was like: 'Whoa, whoa, whoa don't dig me out like that.' And I had to say to him: 'If you're going to say: 'Don't fancy it?' - give me a chance'.

"Because, of course, I fancy it. I want to help Jane. I went straight down and helped her." Dean was later seen apologising to Jane before joining her in carrying the wood for the campfire. In his own Bush Telegraph moment, Alan said: "It was a flippant comment, I'm sorry if you took it in the wrong way. Wasn't actually meant like that, it was just a bit of a joke. If I was asleep and you woke me up, I won't fancy it either."
