BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans spot star 'happier' than Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell over win
by Jessica Sansome · Manchester Evening NewsStrictly Come Dancing fans were quick to spot one of the show's stars appearing 'happier' than Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell about their win.
The pair emerged as the BBC One dance contest's champions during the grand final on Saturday night (December 14) after they beat Miranda actress Sarah Hadland and partner Vito Coppola, Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and dancer Aljaz Skorjanec and JLS singer JB Gill and partner Lauren Oakley.
After the three performances each, the scores given by the judges saw, Chris and Dianne received a total score of 116 points out of a possible 120 while JB and Lauren bagged and Tasha and Aljaz both bagged near-perfect 119 points and Sarah and Vito earn 118 points.
Upon being crowned winner, Chris was clearly stunned as he covered his mouth with his hand while Dianne squealed before they both broke into tears as they realised they won the competition, making history as Chris is the first-ever blind contestant.
After being announced as the 2024 series winner, which has also marked Strictly's 20th year on screen, Chris said: "This is for her (Dianne) and it’s for everyone out there that thought and got told they couldn’t do something. It just shows with opportunity and support and determination, anything can happen.”
He also thanked Australian dancer Dianne, saying: "She deserves this so much. She’s just honestly one of the easiest people to be funny with – and unless she changes her number, she’s stuck with me."
But Strictly fans couldn't help but notice the joy of their co-stars when Chris and Dianne's win was announced, and mainly the reaction of last year's winning pro Vito. @LisaPatten1 said: "How can you not love Vito, I mean he is the human equivalent to a Golden Retriever, he was happier for Chris and Dianne than I think Chris and Dianne were #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing #Strictly2024 #StrictlyFinal #Vito."
@Bexybexxo replied: "Agreed. He’s always had a soft spot for Chris. I loved when he decided to make spag bol for Chris so did a three hour slow ragu and especially bought a plug in stove to the studios so he could cook the pasta fresh." @girlracer68 shared: "He and Aljaz are delightful, their reactions couldn’t have been more genuine. What a fabulous series this has been."
@SCDJOWITA posted: "Vito jumping 12ft into the air, mark and rina beside themselves, everyone just GENUINELY happy for chris and dianne just warms my heart, what a beautiful cast and series. Well deserved winners #strictly." @SandysBitxh_ added: "I also love how genuinely happy the other finalists were for Chris and Dianne. Like did you see how Vito was literally bouncing in the air #Strictly."
