Tributes have been paid to a 'bright and creative' 11-year-old boy who was killed in a crash outside his school just months after performing on Britain's Got Talent.

Evan Rothwell, 11, appeared on the ITV talent show as part of a children's choir group, AmaSing, earlier this year. The popular and much-loved young boy was hit by a car outside his school in Wrexham Road, Chester, last week.

After he died in hospital on Saturday (November 16), the King's School pupil's identity was revealed as Evan - the "funny little boy" who played a big part in the children's choir that captured the nation's hearts on BGT in the spring.

AmaSing, the non-profit music and arts group for children, has now paid tribute to their 'bright and creative' member, Cheshire Live reports.

A spokesperson for AmaSing said: "All of AmaSing are deeply saddened at the terrible news about wonderful Evan who was involved in a fatal road accident outside his school last week.

"Evan was part of our BGT children's choir and AmaSing clubs and was the most amazing, bright, creative, funny little boy who we have had the privilege to teach and work with.

"He was the sweetest boy who touched so many of us with his amazing enthusiasm and energy which was totally contagious. Evan was a superstar and was definitely set to change the world. Sending huge love to his family in this devastating time."

Evan's parents also issued a tribute to their "beautiful son" this week. They spoke of his appearance on Britain's Got Talent with AmaSing and how he made them proud every day.

Evan's family said: "It is with great sadness that we can confirm that our beautiful son Evan Rothwell has passed away as a result of the road traffic accident near King's School last Tuesday.

"Evan loved life and used his talents to entertain and bring joy to others. Evan lit up the world around him when he was making friends laugh with jokes and magic tricks, playing cricket with his friends, performing with Ama-sing on Britain's Got Talent and entertaining audiences as part of the Chester Scout's Gang Show.

"He made us proud every day. We are shocked and devastated at his loss.

"We would like to thank the emergency services staff and the staff at Alder Hey Children's Hospital for their expertise, care and commitment and most of all for their kindness."

"We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from our local community. We really appreciate your love and support.

"The speed limit on the road where Evan was hit is a 40mph limit. This road is outside a school, and we strongly feel that this needs to be lowered to prevent anything like this from happening again."
