NWAS employee arrested after Manchester City stars' items 'stolen' leaves service

by · Manchester Evening News

A man under investigation for an alleged 'high value' theft of equipment from Manchester City's Etihad Stadium has left his job with the North West Ambulance Service.

As reported in the Manchester Evening News last year, an NWAS employee was arrested after tens of thousands of pounds worth of equipment was allegedly stolen.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed it was investigating. The M.E.N. understands equipment and items belonging to City stars were allegedly taken.

A man arrested as part of the investigation has since been released on bail. Last August, NWAS said it was aware of the arrest but refused to reveal whether the man had been suspended or was continuing to work.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "The force is investigating high value theft from the Etihad. A male has been arrested and is currently on bail."

Now a spokesperson for NWAS has confirmed the man has left the service, but would not say if his departure followed disciplinary. They added: "All I can say officially at this stage is to confirm that [he] no longer works for the trust."

Last year, NWAS said: "We are aware of the arrest but cannot comment further at this time."

A spokesman for GMP said a file on the case had been sent for consideration to the Crown Prosecution Service. A spokesperson for Manchester City said last year: "We are unable to comment on an ongoing investigation."
