BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Aljaz Skorjanec hit with 'robbed' response as he says he was 'helped to fall in love'

Strictly Come Dancing fans have claimed that Aljaz Skorjanec was 'robbed' of lifting the Glitterball trophy as he spoke out on his journey on the show where he was 'helped to fall in love'.

The professional dancer made a triumphant return to the ballroom for the 2024 run of the hit show following a two-year hiatus. Aljaz was partnered with former Love Island star and the pair made it through to the series' grand final.

Tasha and Aljaz finished joint top of the leaderboard at the end of the grand final on Saturday night (December 14) alongside JB Gill and Lauren Oakley, after the four finalists - including Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell and Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola - had to perform three dances each.

But their near-perfect 119 points out of a possible 120 wasn't enough on the night as comedian Chris and professional dancer Dianne lifted got the huge backing of the public in order to lift the famous Glitterball trophy after 13 weeks of dancing came to an end.

After taking some time to reflect on his Strictly journey and reunite back in Cheshire with his wife Janette Manrara and their daughter, Lyra Rose, Aljaz took to social media with some words about his return and partnership with Tasha.

Alongside pictures of them in action on the dance floor during the final, the Slovenian star said: "Took a day to reflect… The last 6 months have been one of the happiest, toughest, and most rewarding moments ever for me. Forever grateful to be back on @bbcstrictly but especially to come back and to dance and create with someone like @tashaghouri.

"Partner, thank you for helping me fall in love with creating, performing and dancing on this beautiful show once again. It’s been said many times before that people are what Strictly is all about, but you are what dancing is all about. Thank you for such an unforgettable series, and thank you to everyone that supported us all the way to the end."

He then rounded off his post with a hint that his Strictly journey will hopefully continue, saying: "Until the next one. In the mean time… Keep dancing." Tasha was quick to respond to the update, simply writing: "Just the start," before adding: "And thank you for everything, truly."

Fans were also quick to respond to Aljaz's post and as many showed their love and support, others showed their disappointment that he and Tasha didn't lift the Glitterball trophy.

@nscott1973 said: "You were robbed! Absolute joke." @chris_lumb commented: "In so many ways Chris & Dianne were rightful winners this year. However, if it was purely a dancing competition then you and Tasha would be champions. The best dancer in 20 years Anton called Tasha, that about sums it up."

@stephanie_skeldon wrote: "This has to be one of your best seasons you’ve ever had on the dancefloor! What a season you’ve had, every single routine you both did on that dancefloor was magical and special. It’s been so special to see you back on that dancefloor." @katter25 shared: "So great to have you back and whilst I admire and respect Chris and Diane I believe you guys were the real winners . Loved watching you together."

@kayostell posted: "You were robbed. You are the winners." @jackiebonjovi replied: "Any other year you and Tasha would have won." @maisieslibrary added: "You guys were INCREDIBLE!! and now the highest ever scoring strictly couple…what an achievement. So excited to see you both on tour, such a special partnership!!"
