Emmerdale Eric 'to sell David's Shop' as fans 'work out' new owner is Dales favourite

Emmerdale's iconic David's Shop could soon see a change in ownership, according to the show's fans who believe they 'know' who the new proprietor will be.

The much-loved store has been a fixture on the soap since 2009, with various characters including David Metcalfe (played by Matthew Wolfenden) taking the helm as owner and manager.

Currently, the shop is in the hands of soap stalwart Eric Pollard (portrayed by Chris Chittell), but recent events suggest that a changeover could be imminent following Eric's troubling experiences in the Dales.

Last month, Eric made a significant investment in cryptocurrency, which disastrously backfired, leaving him shocked to find his accounts drained.

To compound the disaster, he had also used his fiancee Brenda Walker's (Lesley Dunlop) savings, ultimately losing everything. Brenda, upon discovering the truth, was left both heartbroken and devastated, reports Leeds Live.

In a heated moment, Brenda called Eric "stupid" for squandering her life savings and jeopardising their home by securing a loan against it. Drama escalated in Tuesday's episode (December 3), when Brenda expressed her reservations about marrying Eric in light of his deceitful actions.

Moreover, Eric contemplated selling his shop as a means to reimburse Brenda, sparking speculation among viewers who are now convinced they know which Dales legend will take over the shop from Eric.

Over on an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, discourse is heating up as fans speculate about the fate of popular characters. A user commented: "It doesn't look good for Eric and Brenda's no expense spared future, but maybe selling the shop would help? ".

Another fan waded into the conversation, suggesting who might take over the shop, saying: "Definitely, he said he will but I think Kim could buy it off him." Echoing this sentiment, another added their voice to the thread: "Yes Kim Tate! ".

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
