BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans say 'he did not' as celebrity stuns with results show comment
by Jessica Sansome · Manchester Evening NewsPete Wicks has stunned Strictly Come Dancing fans with his results show comment. The reality star and podcast host was seen making it through to week 11 of the BBC One dance contest alongside dance partner Jowita Przystal.
Over the weekend, Pete bounced back from a difficult yet entertaining weekend in Blackpool, where the show was broadcast from the world-famous Tower Ballroom and he performed in pink PBV trousers, as he returned to the ballroom on Saturday night (November 23).
Dressed in an all-black suit, podcast host and former TOWIE star Pete guided and dipped his professional partner Jowita across the dancefloor during their Tango to Easy Lover by Philip Bailey and Phil Collins, with the performance landing them a score of 29 out of a possible 40 points from the judges.
It was then on Sunday night (November 24) during the latest results show that it was confirmed Pete and Jowita had made it through to the quarter-final of Strictly's 2024 series, which is the show's annual Musicals Week.
His success sparked a bit of backlash but Pete was quick to addressing the fact that he wasn't the best dancer left in the BBC One dance contest. He admitted there were only two reasons he was still in the competition as he told co-host Claudia Winkleman: "There is literally only two reasons I'm still here and that is people at home."
He continued that he was "so overwhelmed that people have supported us" as he admitted "because it's certainly not down to the dancing". He added: "But also Jowita. If I was with anyone else, I wouldn't be here now. They're all amazing but she's become like a best friend to me. I'm so pleased that I get to spend another week doing this with you."
Pete also admitted he was stunned by the results, adding: "I'm more shocked this week than last week." Jowita revealed the pair would be dancing to a song from West Side Story for Musicals Week, to which Pete replied: "What's that?"
And Strictly viewers were quick to respond as the predicted more details about Pete's upcoming rotuine. @lucy200072 said: "Pete did not just ask what “West Side Story” was #StrictlyComeDancing #strictly." @Ellekl commented: "It’s got to be There’s a place for us. I’ll be blubbing like a baby."
@HFBryant43476 echoed: "I don’t know if they said what song it’ll be (concentrating on this too much!) but if it’s “There’s A Place For Us” there’ll be tears!" @notjanpeteh added: "west side story walz for pete and jowita? oh i’m sat #strictly."
