ITV I'm A Celebrity fans in shock as they say 'sweetheart' campmate is 'the real villain'
by Fionnula Hainey · Manchester Evening NewsI'm A Celebrity fans were shocked to realise that the 'sweetest' member of camp had been part of a major rule break during Thursday night's episode.
Radio presenter Melvin Odoom appeared to have been winning over viewers with his kindness during the latest series of the ITV competition. But in the latest episode, they called him out for being 'the real villain' after it turned out he had smuggled contraband into camp.
Melvin was tasked with helping out new campmates Love Island star Maura Higgins and TV star Reverend Richard Coles in a sloppy challenge which saw him covered in offal as he tried to fill up a bucket to win a prize for camp. As part of a secret challenge, Maura and Richard had to pretend they were also being covered in the slop - but the pair were actually drinking tea and eating sandwiches as they poured the offal over poor Melvin's head.

Believing they were suffering the same fate as him, Melvin offered reassuring words to the pair as he desperately tried to aim the offal down the shoot to full his bucket up. After winning the challenge, Melvin shouted up to them: “Thank you Rev, thank you Maura! Hopefully I get to see you soon ok, love to you!”
Fans were in hysterics watching Melvin suffer while being so sweet to the two people covering him in the gunge. "Melvin needs to win he is such a sweetheart," one said, while another added: Oh Melvin you sweet man". Another echoed the sentiment, commenting: "I'm in love with Melvin. He was so sweet! Give him a cupcake."
But when Melvin went to collect his prize he received a letter telling him the 10 cupcakes he won had been reduced to five because the celebrities had been caught with contraband in camp. Realising that five chocolate cupcakes had been taken off the plate, a gutted Melvin headed back to camp to tell his fellow celebs the news.

Earlier in the show, viewers had seen Dean McCullough hand out cups of tea made with contraband teabags but once Melvin arrived back at camp to explain that a contraband amnesty had started and campmates had to hand in all banned items to avoid further punishment, it became clear that the teabags weren't the only contraband in camp.
Dean made his way to the Bush Telegraph to give up his tea bags and was later joined by Tulisa, who revealed that another campmate had shared seasoning with her, which she hadn’t yet used. As news of the salt sachets spread around camp, the celebrities tried to work out the identity of the 'inside man' that gave Tulisa the contraband.
Eventually, it was none other than 'sweet' Melvin who admitted to giving Tulisa the salt after he snuck it in from home - and the reveal left viewers shocked. "Melvin I am shocked. SHOCKED," one viewer exclaimed. Another said: "Melvin being the one who’s on the inside was NOT on my bingo card.," while a third added: "Omg how was it Melvin? This is hilarious tonight."

Alongside an image of a shocked Ross from Friends, another viewer wrote: "The nation feeling sorry for Melvin enduring the fish guts for 10 cupcakes and getting only 5, to find out he is the real villain."
Another said: "I can't believe I was actually feeling sorry for Melvin 10 minutes ago!" Somebody else commented: "Not Melvin doing a sneaky contraband! Even Dean was shocked."
"That is a plot twist wow Melvin," another said, while another fan wrote: "Melvin acting all innocent and you were even more guilty!"
"Melvin bringing contraband into camp and Rev Richard Coles being a top class liar. Tonight's episode is MADNESS!" a final viewer said.
