ITV I'm A Celebrity star seals 'first elimination' as he 'shows true colours'
by Jessica Sansome · Manchester Evening NewsI'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here fans think one campmate has 'sealed' their exit in the series' first elimination after showing their 'true colours'.
It's now been a week since the new crop of famous faces headed into the jungle having swapped their lives of luxury for the basics of the jungle camp as part of the ITV reality show's 2024 series.
And it was during Saturday night's (November 23) installment of life Down Under, which saw latecomer's Maura Higgins and Richard Coles finally enter the main camp, that viewers saw tensions flare for the first time between Dean McCullough and Alan Halsall.
Following a huge helping of junk food after Maura and Richard's sneaky secret mission and stomach-churning eating trial, a sleepy Dean decided to take a nap. But with chores still to do, Jane Moore had to go and collect firewood, . She confessed in keeping with camp rules: "I can’t do it on my own".
Watching Jane head off on her own, Alan decided to take the reins and wake Dean up so he could help out. But a sleepy and disorientated Dean was left less than impressed at being woken and hardly stirred as Alan asked him: "You don’t fancy it? No?".
When he got little response from BBC Radio 1 presenter Dean, Coronation Street actor Alan decided to go down with Jane to help her so she wasn’t alone. As Dean headed to join Alan and Jane, he said to Alan: "You can go back now."
Alan then explained: "I was trying to wake you up as soft as I could.” Dean responded: "Listen to me. If you’re gonna wake me up, you need to give me a minute, alright? It takes a couple of minutes for my contact lenses to get back working again, alright, so you don’t need to turn around to me and say ‘do you not fancy it?’ ok? And then turn around and walk away.”
Alan replied: "I’ve listened to you, Jane was halfway down here, that’s why I went…" to which Dean said: "Ok I get that but you need to give me a minute mate." The two continued back and forth, and Dean later said in the Bush Telegraph: "I opened my eyes and wee Tyrone from Coronation Street is like: 'Come on, mate, you need to go down to the bottom of the creek.'

"He didn't even give me a chance to say yes or no because he went: 'You don't fancy it? No?' and ran. He was being a real camp leader. I was like: 'Whoa, whoa, whoa don't dig me out like that.' And I had to say to him: 'If you're going to say: 'Don't fancy it?' - give me a chance'.
"Because, of course, I fancy it. I want to help Jane. I went straight down and helped her." Dean was later seen apologising to Jane before joining her in carrying the wood for the campfire. In his own Bush Telegraph moment, Alan said: "It was a flippant comment, I'm sorry if you took it in the wrong way. Wasn't actually meant like that, it was just a bit of a joke. If I was asleep and you woke me up, I won't fancy it either."
But I'm A Celeb fans think that Dean's attack on Alan has sealed an upcoming exit. @superTV247 said: "Dean’s just earned himself the first elimination I think #ImACeleb." @melissa_Mur4y echoed: "So that’s dean being voted out first #ImACeleb #imacelebrity @imacelebrity."
@cfcadeel commented: "Of course dean had to ruin man he’s soo annoying and definitely needs to be the first one to be voted out of the jungle #ImACeleb." @stephencomedy posted: "That was uncomfortable to watch! Alan is one of the nicest men in showbiz and i think Dean just showed his true colours. #ImACeleb." @nim_nim1 added: "I'm convinced Dean thought there would be no cameras near the wood collecting place and let his true colours show. #ImACeleb."
