BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Lauren Oakley in tears as JB Gill captures emotional moment during training

by · Manchester Evening News

Lauren Oakley has been seen in tears as JB Gill caught an emotional moment from their Strictly Come Dancing training on camera.

The pair are riding high heading into the quarter-final of the BBC One dance contest this Saturday night (November 30) after their impressive stint in the ballroom last weekend - which was week ten of the competition.

JLS star JB and his professional dance partner Lauren were seen picking up another near-perfect score as they were awarded 39 out of 40 points from the judges for their lively Charleston to Yes Sir! That’s My Baby by Firehouse Five Plus Two.

Dressed in white trousers, a striped shirt and braces, pop star and presenter JB flipped pro dancer Lauren upside down and in a cartwheel spin as well as showing off his quick footwork. Craig Revel Horwood praised the routine as "pure class", while Motsi Mabuse said JB has loosened up and now has the "right swag".

JB and Lauren later boosted their score and ended up finishing joint top of the leaderboard following the return of the dance-a-thon when all the couples performed the samba simultaneously while the judges looked on. It left them joint top of the leaderboard again alongside Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec after they bagged the first perfect 40 of the 2024 series.

It was then confirmed during the results show that the pair had successfully made it through to week 11 of Strictly's 20th-anniversary series and it's recently been revealed that they'll be performing a Viennese Waltz to Let’s Go Fly A Kite from Mary Poppins.

And it appears that this week is hitting Lauren right in the feels as JB shared a video on Instagram on Thursday (November 28) of her sitting on the rehearsal room floor in tears while also laughing at her own emotional reaction.

Alongside the post, JB explained: "One of the things I’ve learned over the last few months is that dancing is so incredibly emotive…Today we watched back one of our run throughs ahead of the weekend and @laurenmayoakley couldn’t help but cry. It’s such an amazing feeling when you put so much hard work into something and a pro really starts to see the results.

"It fills you with so much confidence and you just want to do it over and over again! CANT WAIT to Viennese Waltz for you all this weekend…just don’t blame me for the happy tears." He also shared the post to his Instagram Story and said: "This was actually the cutest moment. When your coach fully believes in you..."

Responding to the post, JB's wife Chloe said: "Love you two @laurenmayoakley @jbgill," while friend and wife of JLS bandmate Sarah Merrygold replied: "Ah I love this! Can’t wait to see this week J. Let’s go team."
