Strictly Come Dancing fans have uncovered Chris McCausland's sweet message to show bosses about Dianne Buswell following their series win.

The comedian and his professional dance partner were seen being crowned the BBC One dance contest's latest champions on Saturday night (December 14) following a glittering grand final live show.

They beat fellow finalists Miranda actress Sarah Hadland and partner Vito Coppola, Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and dancer Aljaz Skorjanec and JLS singer JB Gill and partner Lauren Oakley to lift the Glitterball trophy.

After Tess Daly announced them as this year's winners of the Strictly's 20th-anniversary series, Chris said it was "astonishing” to win. He cried and hugged his partner Dianne after the title was announced, with them both appearing to be in disbelief.

The 47-year-old said: "It’s astonishing. It’s – you know. I don’t know what to say. I honestly thought I could go out in the first week or two and I know no-one went out in the first week but I still thought I could."

Dianne has since tried to summarise what winning means to her and to Chris as she took to social media to celebrate their victory and said: "From the man who said to me weekly 'Di, I’m just a 47 year old comedian who signed the wrong paper' to the winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2024.

"Chris started this show not having any idea at ALL about any of it! I wasn’t just teaching Chris the dances I was explaining everything that was also going on around us and as you know there’s a lot that goes on visually with strictly. It blew my mind even more when I actually started to explain things out loud I had so much more appreciation for everything.

"My teaching style was 90 percent visual I wouldn’t want to teach in a room without mirrors because it was the way I perfected things. With Chris we had to find different ways of making it work. And this is what Chris is brilliant at he is a problem solver and he taught me to think outside the box . Just because there’s an obstacle in the way doesn’t mean you can’t get to the destination successfully. I am forever grateful for the friendship I have gained in such an incredible person he says I changed his life but like wise I see things in a different way now and I’m forever grateful."

She went on: "To the strictly producers, dance team, lighting, music, band, costume, hair and makeup, camera crew, props team , judges, pros, presenters, contestants, viewers and every one else that makes this show possible thank you for another brilliant year you all work so hard in your departments and it’s the best show on telly because of all of you.

"This really was a moment that I’ll never forget in my life ! I had my beautiful parents in the audience and them seeing me dance was something I wanted for so long the fact they got to see us lift the glitterball was just magical." Dianne rounded off the post: "I’m still so overwhelmed with the kindness of people and the support you have shown us through out this whole thing thank you all so so much. Sending you all love."

Now, Chris' response to Dianne's post has been spotted as he wrote in the comments section: "As Dianne said, thank you to everybody involved in making the show and to you all for voting for us and getting us to the final, and choosing us as your winners. The whole experience has been far beyond anything I ever thought it would be, and last night was extremely emotional. To the Strictly bosses, thank you so much for pairing me with Dianne. She has been incredible, magical, life changing. Partner, we did it!!!! You are the absolute best."

And fans were quick to respond. @gingergoffghoul said: "You certainly are both big inspirations, so deserved!! Still emotional today, WELL DONE." @maxbiddle98 commented: "You have been a total joy to watch. After all you have overcome and achieved, nobody deserves this more. Congratulations!" @cazhawksworth added: "The best Strictly series ever, I sobbed so much on Saturday night! You both absolutely deserved to win!"
