Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has declared his love for his former co-star as fans rushed to respond to his latest update. Just a few weeks after filming her final scenes on the cobbles, Helen Worth was reunited with her on-screen son.

She announced she was stepping back from her long-running role as Gail Platt in the summer, 50 years after her debut on the cobbles. It was said at the time that her final scenes would air by the end of 2024 in an emotional goodbye to the iconic character and it's since been confirmed her exit will air on Christmas Day.

Confirming the reason behind her exit, Helen said in a statement: "This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world. I made the decision at the start of the year and spoke to the producers who were very kind and understanding."

She has since filmed her final scenes and said an emotional goodbye to her on-screen family. But she was recently reunited with Jack, who is famed for playing David Platt in the ITV soap.

Over the weekend, stars of the north west TV industry were celebrated at the annual Royal Television Society (RTS) awards in Manchester. The awards ceremony saw TV favourites compete across 24 categories with some of the biggest stars in TV in attendance at the ceremony at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel on Friday night (November 22).

There was a standing ovation on the night as the Judges' Award was bestowed on Helen after her five-decade career on Corrie.. She was presented on the night by Jack, and gave an emotional speech thanking the soap's cast and crew over the years. She said: "To receive an award, in Manchester, in the north west, the home of Coronation Street, is an absolute joy.

"I've done 50 years, I don't know how I did it! It just flew by and I never actually thought about it and then one day someone told me I'd been here 50 years and I thought 'I think it's time I left' and that was it really. I know why I stayed - it was simple - because of all the wonderful people who work on Coronation Street."

Following the ceremony, Jack shared a sweet photo of himself and Helen to his Instagram page as she beamed alongside her holding onto her latest award. Alongside the post the actor wrote: "Delighted to present Helen with the RTS Judges award this year. Standing ovation of course."

Bethany Platt actress Lucy Fallon was quick to respond, writing: "The queen," while Julia Goulding, who plays Shona Platt, replied: "Of course!" Abi Webster star Sally Carman-Duttine shared: "Love this," while Toyah Habeeb actress Georgia Taylor shared: "Absolute Queen."

Jack's fiancée Hanni Treweek also shared a message on the post as she added: "An emotional rollercoaster for you all. Always so proud of you. Huge congratulations Helen xx." Jack then followed-up the post with a video of himself with Helen on stage and simply said: "Love you Helen."
