ITV I'm A Celebrity fans 'crying' at Melvin Odoom gesture as they call for star to be 'replaced'

I'm A Celebrity fans were left 'crying' at Melvin Odoom's sweet gesture during tonight's episode - and have called for him to 'replace' another celebrity in the next bushtucker trial.

At the end of Wednesday night's episode of the ITV show, hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly walked into camp to tell the celebrities which of them would be taking on the next trial in a bid to win food for camp.

As the presenters went round each of the celebrities, viewers were touched when Radio 1 DJ Melvin sent out a message to his mum. After being told that he had not been picked for the trial, while the camera was still on him, Melvin raised his mug and said: "Happy birthday mum."

The gesture touched viewers, with one commenting: "That was such a smooth, nice way to say happy birthday to melvin’s mum why am I emotional," while another asked: "Why am I crying at melvin odoom wishing his mum a happy birthday?!"

And after learning who would be taking on the next trial, entitled Rank Bank, viewers were all making the same demand. Ant and Dec revealed that three celebrities would take on the trial, and it was McFly star Danny Jones, radio presenter Dean McCullough and Corrie star Alan Halsall who had been voted for by the public.

While plenty of fans were happy Danny and Alan would get the chance to take on a trial, it seemed that they were less than impressed with Dean being voted for again, with him having already done six trials.

Fans took to social media to vent their frustration at the results, and many called for the show to 'swap' Dean for Melvin, suggesting the trio of him, Danny and Alan would have been the perfect combination.

"Should’ve been Melvin not Dean tbh," one viewer wrote. Another said: "Danny, Alan & Melvin would've been such a vibe if Melvin got picked over Dean." A third agreed, writing: "Should’ve replaced Dean with Melvin would’ve been more funny."

"Nearly got Alan, danny and melvin on a trial together but dean has to ruin it," another fan fumed. Somebody else begged: "Can we swap Dean for Melvin… please."
