Prince Louis takes on surprising new hobby - Prince William is not impressed
William and Kate's three children enjoy a range of different sports and hobbies - but the future King admitted he is struggling with Prince Louis's new favourite activity
by Gemma Strong · The MirrorPrince Louis is the cheekiest and most high-spirited of Prince William and Princess Kate's three children - and he has now taken up a noisy new hobby which has left his father despairing.
William recently appeared at the 2024 Tusk Awards, where he spoke to Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood and Dire Straits guitarist Mark Knopfler and revealed that Louis is honing his musical skills.
"My youngest is learning the drums that's why I spend my entire life with my fingers in my ears," William joked.
Just like her little brother, Princess Charlotte has also shown interest in the arts - but her passion is for dance. During William's September visit to Swiss Valley Community Primary School, he spoke with student Ruby Davies, who had won an individual reciting competition earlier in the year.
In a video shared by BBC , William can be heard telling the young girl, "Charlotte loves her dancing and performing as well, so I'm going to show her your video when I get home, see where I've been today."
Prince George, meanwhile, is making a splash in an altogether different field. During a visit to the Birtley Community Pool in Tyne and Wear in October, William revealed that his 11-year-old son is really into his scuba diving.
"George loves scuba diving. He's 11 years old. We took him under thinking he would freak out. He absolutely loves it. It's just introducing him to the world of water," Prince William said, Hello! reported.
He made the revelation while meeting swimmers Adam Peaty and Tom Dean, who recently represented Britain at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and Paralympians Maisie Summers-Newton and Louise Fiddes, who were also at the table.
Prince George is the eldest of William and Kate's three children, and it's likely he was influenced to pursue his new hobby by both his mother and father who are both accomplished scuba divers.
In 2015, Kensington Palace confirmed that Princess Kate had passed a Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) Advanced Open Water Diver qualification, which will allow her to dive to a depth of up to 98 feet (30 metres).
Prince William, meanwhile, has had his scuba qualifications for some time – and is the president of the British Sub-Aqua Club.
In 2022, the Prince and Princess of Wales even managed to sneak in a scuba diving excursion during their royal tour of the Caribbean and had a dive at South Water Caye to see the Belize Barrier Reef.
Both royals are known to enjoy swimming in general. Prince William played water polo for Eton College and the University of St. Andrews, while Princess Kate revealed on The Good, The Bad & The Rugby podcast last year that cold swimming was one of her fitness hobbies.
"The colder, the better. I absolutely love it," the Princess of Wales said on the show, which is co-hosted by Princess Anne's son-in-law Mike Tindall. "Slightly to the point where William's like, 'Catherine, you're crazy.' And it's dark, and it's raining," she joked in the episode, which was released in September 2023.
