Princess Charlotte would be much richer than Prince George - and it's all down to Kate Middleton

Princess Charlotte is already emerging as a little style icon - and she could have the same selling power as her fashionable mum, Princess Kate, whose clothes fly off the shelves

Princess Charlotte has the potential to be wealthier than her older brother Prince George - despite the fact he will one day be King - if you consider their net worth as celebrity children.

Research conducted by Outdoor Toys suggests that Charlotte could have an estimated net worth of around £3.9billion thanks to the ' Kate Middleton effect', putting her ahead of the likes of Rihanna and Beyonce's children, as well as her big brother. Style icon Princess Kate frequently impacts fashion trends, with the designer items she wears for public outings flying off the shelves immediately after. So great is her influence that British brands are said to earn around £1 billion annually thanks to her endorsement.

And it is believed that Charlotte will have the same impact on the industry. She has already proven her selling power on a number of occasions. When she attended a Taylor Swift concert in London with her dad and brother, she sparkled in a glittering rose gold 'Kids Sequin Party Dress' from John Lewis. Within minutes, the frock had sold out.

Similarly, the red sequin Monsoon dress she wore to the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Party at the Palace in 2022, sold out within a few hours with numerous calls for a restock from shoppers desperate to get their hands on it. For her sixth birthday photo, the young Princess wore a pretty floral dress by luxury children's brand Rachel Riley, retailing at £59. And that became the fastest-selling item in the brand's 28-year history.

It's clear that Charlotte is already following in her mum's stylish footsteps. The 'Kate effect' has been going strong since 2010 when the royal announced her engagement to Prince William. At the photocall, Kate stunned in an ISSA blue wrap dress - and sent royal fans into a frenzy. Within hours of Kate's appearance, the dress was completely sold out. And that trend has continued ever since, from Kate's dresses and jeans, to her trainers, bags and jewellery.

Shoe designer Camilla Elphick experienced firsthand the might of Kate's influence when the Princess wore a pair of her Alicia pumps to a charity polo match in 2022. She later told Harper's Bazaar: "It was a normal day in the office, and suddenly I got a flurry of calls from my mum and friends," she explains. "I had no idea [Kate] was going to wear them. The phones didn't stop ringing all day. We've got a live chat on our website, and it just went off the scale – especially in America. At the time, the style was our most popular anyway, but when people saw Kate wearing it, it completely sold out."
