Prince Harry and Meghan's never-before-seen footage from their wedding reception
Royal fans were treated to a never-before-seen look at the wedding reception of Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex in the six-part documentary series the couple made for Netflix
by Emma Mackenzie · The MirrorSince leaving life in the UK behind, Meghan and Prince Harry have shared a lot of insight into their private lives.
From their bombshell sit down with TV legend Oprah Winfrey, which broke down all the reasons they had stepped away from royal life, to the release of Harry's bestselling memoir Spare, which lifted the lid on what growing up in the House of Windsor was really like from his perspective - the couple has endeavoured to tell their own story.
In their six-part Netflix documentary series - titled Harry & Meghan - the couple gave Oscar-winning filmmaker Liz Garbus never before seen access to their private lives, and explored the intricacies of their love story, from their early days of dating to building their new home in California with their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
The series dropped in two parts, with the first three episodes airing on 8 December 2022 - only a couple of months after the late Queen Elizabeth had died, and Charles had taken the throne - and the second three episodes dropping on Netflix a week later. The second tranche of episodes saw the couple provide previously unseen insight, footage and photographs from their fairytale royal wedding reception.
Whilst the wedding ceremony itself was aired on television - and watched by millions around the globe - the reception at St. George's Hall in Windsor took place behind firmly closed doors, and until the couple dived into things during their documentary, the public was none the wiser about what it had entailed.
As reported in OK magazine, viewers saw lots of private snaps that the couple shared during the documentary, with images of Harry and Meghan dancing - including one of Harry dipping his new bride low - along with snaps of the couple's friends seeming to have the time of their lives.
Meghan also revealed the song that the couple used for their first dance, although she initially had some trouble remembering its exact title. The couple span around the dancefloor to mark their first dance as husband and wife to Wilson Pickett's Land of a 1000 dances. " I just really wanted the music to be fun. Even our first dance," Meghan said in the documentary series,"Just spinning like a whirlwind. It was so great," she added.
Meghan changed into a custom Stella McCartney gown for the private evening reception, where A-list pal Idris Elba is reported to have acted as DJ.
