AMC Networks Celebrates Native American Heritage Month With Launch of ‘Indigenous Rising Stars’ Short Films Series

The collection highlights television and film content created by and starring Indigenous creatives and talent from AMC Networks, such as the Zahn McClarnon-produced thriller series “Dark Winds” and the Emmy-winning documentary “Lakota Nation vs. United States.”
Other “Celebrating Indigenous Stories” titles include “Black Snow,” “Good Grief,” “Far North,” “Total Control,” “The Red Road,” and “Cleverman.”

AMC Networks has also released a library of short films titled “Indigenous Rising Stars” as part of the “Celebrating Indigenous Stories” archive. “Indigenous Rising Stars” is featured as part of AMC’s “Future of Film” initiative. These shorts come from The Santa Fe International Film Festival’s Indigenous Program. They are curated by Gary Farmer (“Reservation Dogs”) and available to stream Nov. 25 through Dec. 24.
Among the short films selected for “Indigenous Rising Stars” are “Lily Gladstone: Far Out There,” “Long Line of Ladies,” “I Am Home,” “Pî-kiwîk” and “The Original Shareholder Experience.”
“We’re proud to partner with The Santa Fe International Film Festival to champion authentic stories from underrepresented voices,” said Courtney Thomasma, EVP of Linear and Streaming Products at AMC Networks. “We’re excited for audiences to discover these compelling stories from both established and emerging Indigenous talent during Native American Heritage Month on AMC+ as we look ahead to a new season of Dark Winds premiering in March 2025.”
As previously announced, new episodes of “Dark Winds” will be available exclusively on AMC and AMC+ starting March 9.
