Game Awards Team With ‘Fortnite’ for Fan Voting Hosted by ‘MetaHuman’ Version of Geoff Keighley
by Jennifer Maas · VarietyThe Game Awards have re-teamed with Epic Games for fan voting in “Fortnite,” led this year by a “MetaHuman” version of host Geoff Keighley.
Following last year’s inaugural in-game voting, the Game Awards will return to “Fortnite” for the 2024 show next month and let players vote for the best Fortnite island of the year.
Dubbed “The Game Awards Vote in Fortnite,” the collaboration is described as “a hub world that lets players portal to 10 creator made Islands that showcase the potential, creativity and innovation possible in Fortnite. After exploring the nominated islands, players can vote in-game for their favorite, as part of a special fan poll.”

The fan poll winner will be announced out of the 2024 Game Awards, live-streaming out of the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Dec. 12. Fan voting on the island is limited to one vote per Epic ID. Voting runs through Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. PT.
Separate from the voting feature, the Game Awards’ “Fortnite” map will let players “compete in a target shooting arena, unlocking more powerful weapons between rounds as they level up.” The map has leaderboards per round and session, and uses the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN)’s persistence features to retain players’ progress across sessions.
“The Game Awards Vote in Fortnite” is now available using the in-game island code 0853-1358-8532. The map was developed by Studio 568, with art by Spiral House and Nighttimes.
