‘Yellowstone’ Season 5 Episode 11: Craziest Moments and Burning Questions, From [SPOILER]’s Bloody Murder to a Shocking Autopsy

by · Variety

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from the Season 5, Episode 11 episode of “Yellowstone,” “Three Fifty-Three,” which premiered Sunday, Nov. 24 on Paramount Network.

Last week’s episode tied up some loose ends, but this week’s “Yellowstone” is all about violence, as we finally see John’s murder go down, as well as the assassination of a troublesome favorite — all with some slaps and roughhousing in between. Let’s begin:

  • Why is Beth (Kelly Reilly) studying Italian? Lifelong learning is great, but it seems pretty random…
  • “Must be that time of the month?” Shut up, Tate (Brecken Merrill) — don’t be misogynistic.
  • Wow, we’re going to watch the strike team kill John (Kevin Costner), with night vision goggles and everything? Dark!
  • I know it’s not the point, but it’s weird to see John in pajamas. I just assumed he slept in a cowboy hat and jeans.
  • We’re watching them force John to shoot himself? VERY dark!
  • Does Beth have The Shining? How is she able to feel her father die?
  • Kayce (Luke Grimes) was also mystically alerted to his father’s death? Huh?
  • Not to question the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, who wrote these episodes, but it feels like the flashbacks and out-of-order storytelling are more repetitive than “Rashomon.” It was interesting to see John’s death finally happen, but it’s three weeks later and it still feels like the narrative has barely moved forward.
  • Jamie (Wes Bentley) is already trying to make political dealings — gross!
  • Yay, Clara (Lilli Kay) is getting a big promotion. She’s worked so hard!
  • Oh, Clara’s gone. Easy come, easy go.
  • Yay, Clara already has another job with Senator Perry (Wendy Moniz). Congrats again!
  • Kayce demanding to oversee the second autopsy … I’m sorry, what is your expertise here? Let this medical examiner do her job!
  • Perhaps the nurse Kayce put in a choke hold should sue the state …
  • Jamie’s assistant should also sue the state. Kayce is manhandling everyone!
  • That said, it was pretty satisfying to see Kayce beat up Jamie.
  • Oof, new governor Steven Rawlings (Gareth Williams) just screwed Jamie’s positioning. You can’t influence the government anymore, bro!
  • “The marks on his body … He could have gotten those when he fell to the floor. He was a 68-year-old man. He could have fallen in the tub, for all we know.” Sarah (Dawn Olivieri) delivers some tough truths from Sheridan’s pen that pokes at the larger-than-life legacy of John Dutton.
  • Poor Sarah learning that Jamie is the biggest snake in the world. He won’t protect you, boo!
  • Oh, damn, Sarah’s parting words to Jamie (“You just got a whole lot less important in this state.”) definitely hurt him more than her huge slap.
  • Wow, that assassination was shocking! So long, Sarah — you were chaotic until the very end.
  • “My number! My number!” Nothing like Jamie hearing his love interest get murdered over the phone and only worrying that it might be connected to him.

Until next week, “Yellowstone” fans!
