The intense film takes place in Iraq in 2006 and stars D’pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Will Poulter, Joseph Quinn, Charles Melton, Cosmo Jarvis, Kit Connor, Finn Bennett, Taylor John Smith, Michael Gandolfini, Adain Bradley, Noah Centineo, Evan Holtzman, Henrique Zaga and Aaron Deakins.
“‘Warfare’ embeds audiences with a platoon of American Navy SEALs in the home of an Iraqi family, overwatching the movement of US forces through insurgent territory,” the synopsis reads. “A visceral, boots-on-the-ground story of modern warfare, told like never before: in real time and based on the memory of the people who lived it.”

The trailer starts out of showing the soldiers in a period of quiet downtime as they scope out two targets on a rooftop with a sniper rifle. However, the action quickly escalates and bullets begin to fly as the young men exchange fire with terrorists. They run through the streets as firefights erupts around them, and at one point Quinn’s character is shot. Woon-A-Tai’s character calls in for a medical evacuation to help their “severely wounded,” and Quinn begins to panic and ask him, “Who’s severely wounded?” The trailer ends on a tense shot of the soldiers moving Quinn’s body as he grits his teeth through the pain.
The film is written by Garland and Iraq War veteran Ray Mendoza, who is played by Woon-A-Tai.
