Ellison serves as the film’s composer as well as director. Jonni Remmler penned the script. Nate Bolotin of XYZ Films and Matthew Metcalfe of GFC Films serve as producers. Executive producers include Neill Blomkamp and Echo Lake Entertainment. RJLE Films serves as the distributor.

Rapper and producer Ellison debuted his first feature “Kuso” in 2017, which he followed up with a segment in 2022’s “V/H/S/99” titled “Ozzy’s Dungeon.”

Shudder was launched in 2015 by AMC Networks as a platform dedicated to horror and thriller fanatics. Other original titles from the platform include “Late Night with the Devil,” “Speak No Evil,” “Mad God,” “The Boulet Brothers Dragula Resurrection” and “Doc of Chucky.”

Ellison recently spoke to Hypebeast about the experience of making “Ash” compared to his previous film, “Kuso.”

“It’s completely different,” he said. “With ‘Kuso,’ I did so much of that at my house and a lot of it was me begging homies to do stuff, whereas ‘Ash’ was a real production. Everything was really legit. Going to an office, being in meetings every day with fluorescent lights. It was great working with professionals who have crazy experience in the industry. People go to New Zealand to shoot sci-fi and fantasy movies, so I was among all these people who worked on ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and other Peter Jackson and James Cameron stuff.”
