Gunna to Make African Debut at Coca-Cola’s ‘Rhythm Unplugged’ at Nigeria’s Flytime Fest This Weekend

Grammy-nominated rapper Gunnais set to make his African debut as the headliner for Coca-Cola Rhythm Unplugged, the flagship event of Flytime Fest 2024. Taking place at the Eko Convention Center in Lagos, Nigeria, on Dec. 22, the performance marks a milestone in both Gunna’s career and the legacy of the festival, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

The Atlanta-born rapper will be joined by some of Africa’s biggest rising stars, bridging the gap between global and African music audiences. The event kicks off Flytime Fest’s four-day music event, which will also feature performances by Nigerian rap icon Olamide (Dec. 23), Afrobeats heavyweight Davido (Dec. 24), and Afro-pop sensation Ayra Starr (Dec. 25).

This landmark performance comes as Gunna continues to ride the high of his Grammy nominated 2024 album, “One of Wun.” He also recently collaborated with Afrobeats stars Asake and SARZ on the track “Happiness,” highlighting his connection to the African music scene ahead of his Lagos debut.

Flytime Promotions, the powerhouse behind Flytime Fest, has been a leader in African live entertainment for two decades. Coca-Cola Rhythm Unplugged, the festival’s centerpiece, has evolved from a local concert into a cultural institution, hosting global stars like Ja Rule, Ashanti, and Megan Thee Stallion alongside African icons. Past events have sparked game-changing collaborations, such as Wizkid’s first encounter with Tems, leading to their Grammy-nominated hit “Essence.”
