DJ Fat Tony claims he was attacked at gig as he shares bruised and swollen face
by Charlotte McLaughlin PA Senior Entertainment Reporter · Wales OnlineFat Tony, whose given name is Anthony Marnoch, has claimed that he suffered facial injuries following an incident at a performance. The DJ and podcast host, who played at Lido Margate in Kent last Friday, took to Instagram the subsequent morning to detail being hurt "last night at a gig" which he accompanied with a video depicting the bruising and swelling on his face.
Marnoch went on to say that after receiving treatment at a hospital's A&E, he was "absolutely gutted" to have to cancel his Saturday appearance at No90 Hackney Wick in London. "I’m really sorry that I won’t be seeing you tonight but we will reschedule everything," he assured fans.
"Big love guys – I’m just gutted, really gutted."
He informed his followers that he had been advised by doctors to "rest and get better" and that while he would be "OK" and is "on the mend" he is deeply apologetic. "I really am so sorry," he continued, promising to compensate his audience in the upcoming year.
"I will make it up to you all in the new year. Happy Christmas everyone, take care of yourselves."
The missed event, he noted, will be set for January. A number of celebrities responded to his post, offering sympathy and well-wishes: This Morning's Jodie Gibson offered: "Awww mate, sending you so much love."
Dame Tracey Emin, the artist, wrote: "Dear Tony, sending you lots of love."
Actress Kate Magowan expressed her despair over the situation, stating: "I’m so sorry this happened. Just appalling. Sending love."
Television presenter Davina McCall chimed in: "This is terrible... Love you so much x (kiss) call (you) tomorrow."
On Sunday, Marnoch provided an update regarding his painful and swollen condition but nonetheless expressed gratitude for the overwhelming "outpouring of support".
He also mentioned that he was at home with his dogs and partner Stavros Agapiou, where he was being "looked after". The DJ is well-known on the social scene, often seen at events alongside reality TV star Gemma Collins and singer and actress Claire Sweeney.
Kent Police have been approached for a statement.
