I went to see Primark's new collab and items were collecting dust

Primark has missed the mark on this occasion

We’ve all seen the viral TikToks; there are multiple of them. The videos poke fun at Rita Ora’s Primark collection as the original price tag is replaced with one significantly lower - in some cases, discounted to mere pounds.
And after a recent jaunt to Liverpool’s city centre, I think I have found the men’s equivalent. Funnily enough, the counterpart collection is only a stone's throw away. Just one escalator ride down, to be exact, because beneath the ground floor of the Church Street shop lies a shrine to Kem Cetinay and his partnership with the budget fashion chain.
At first, you would think surely Rita Ora, a once-chart-topping singer, would have more luck shifting a few garments than a 2017 Love Island contestant. But it seems not.
When I dropped by the shop earlier this week, the section was overflowing with Kem’s relaxed designs—everything from crew-neck T-shirts and smart-style joggers to casual shacks and loungewear co-ords. Like other shoppers in the section, I picked up a few items and gave them the once over before promptly setting them back on the rack.
Don’t get me wrong, initially, there were a few pieces that caught my eye - notably an £18 quarter-zipped-style jumper. However, I quickly realised it was bobbled, and while the others hanging behind it weren’t, I thought it wouldn’t be worth the money if it were in this condition just from draping on a hook.
A grey neck zip-through sweatshirt paired with match bottoms also lured me in for a moment. Although it is nothing we haven’t seen before and isn't groundbreaking, I figured it would be best to leave it on this occasion.
After scouring through the clothing, I made my way over to the accessories section of the collection. I’m currently in the market for a new work black bag - one that will hold nothing but will look professional at the same time.
Hiding in the corner, I saw one that I could picture myself prancing into the office with. It appeared practical yet minimal and had a sleek black design. It seemed as if I had struck gold. But, as you probably guessed by now, this wasn’t the case.
The straps allowed no room for breathing - even when I was only wearing a thin T-shirt and standing in at 5ft8.
The same fault could be found with the other bags. This is a weird concept, considering the collection is mainly aimed at men rather than kids. If this wasn’t enough, the bags were covered in dust.
Arguably, this could’ve been down to the Polyurethane nature of the bag, but from my earlier experience, I wouldn’t rule out a lack of sales. It would seem as if Primark has, once again, missed the mark on this one.
