Dog owners and their four-legged friends took to the streets in their scariest fancy dress for a Halloween-themed dog walk like no other. Shiverpool, Liverpool’s Award-Winning ghost tour company, teamed up with Hector’s Greyhound Rescue for a dog-friendly exploration of the city's dark, haunted past.

The "bespook" event, which took place today, was one of a kind, as Shiverpool does not usually allow dogs - except guide dogs. The historical tour included a doggy fancy dress competition, with entry fees going towards Hector’s Greyhound Rescue, a charity dedicated to saving ex-racing greyhounds and other sighthounds.

The charity, which is based in Shropshire, Aberystwyth and Southport, currently has around 40 greyhounds looking for their forever homes. Sadly, these are taking longer than expected to rehome, which the charity put down the ongoing cost of living crisis and the rising cost dog ownership. As a result, the charity has branched out, teaming up with Shiverpool in the hope of meeting its everlasting financial demands. Here are some of the best pictures from the event today.
