BBC Strictly Come Dancing star receives death threats after viewers 'lash out' at results

Pete Wicks, the Strictly Come Dancing celebrity, has revealed that he's been receiving harsh death threats whilst competing on the BBC series. The 36 year old reality star admitted facing a backlash for progressing to the quarter-final when other higher-scoring celebrities were voted off.

He spoke about this distressing issue on his Staying Relevant podcast with his dance partner, Jowita Przystal, who was temporarily substituting co-host Sam Thompson, currently in Australia for the I'm A Celeb spin-off, I'm A Celebrity...Unpacked. Describing the horrid comments, the TOWIE personality mentioned: "Since Strictly, there have been some real crackers."

Shockingly, he shared: "Someone actually wished death upon me on the dance floor the other day."

Jowita questioned: "Really? " to which Pete recounted a troll's disturbing message: "Let's all keep our fingers crossed that he gets booted out and breaks both legs slipping on the floor." In response to the Sunday results show, Pete apologised to fans after he was saved and Jamie Borthwick left the competition.

Jamie, known for EastEnders, and his dance partner Michelle Tsiakkas performed their Foxtrot to 'Stand By Me' by Ben E King again in the dance-off, previously scoring 32 from the judges on Saturday's live show.

In a determined effort to sway the judges, Montell and Johannes reprised their Quickstep to "Pete apologised to fans after the results show on Sunday as he was saved while Jamie Borthwick was eliminated.

Pete, caught off guard by the outcome, later addressed his followers on Instagram amidst criticism, expressing: "No one is more surprised than me. Trust me I know I'm not as good as the rest and I'm sorry for that but I'm trying my best, we all are."

He continued: "I'm just trying to improve and learn as I go. No one is more surprised that I'm still here than me. We're all giving it 100 percent and no one wants to see any one go home."

The remaining six pairs are now gearing up for the quarter-final, with the live broadcast scheduled to return on BBC One and iPlayer come Saturday November 30 at 7.05pm, followed by the results show on Sunday December 1 at 7.20pm.
